It is a sad sad day in New Zealand Motorsport today with the announcement of Mark Porters death for those of you who didnt read the paper or watch the morning news.
This is truly a great shock and loss to everyone who knew him and his family Mark is survived by his wife and 1 year old son.
Mark was a huge ambassador for the V8 Street race to be held in Hamilton which is his home town he was excited that he may get the chance to race the circuit if it went ahead sadly he wont get that wish now.

R-I-P Mark Porter.

I agree. Best Bathurst in years with Lowndes winning I thought was great as Brock was his mentor. A big thing to say for a Holden fan. Before I had kids and mortgage I had a HT Prem with worked 327 and M21 4 speed and 3.5:1 10 bolt.
That was 15 yrs ago now and quick in it's day with early 13's and somewhere over 300HP. These days the boy racers with 600HP jap cars don't crash as well as the old metal.
Sooner or later they'll make you stay under a certain HP for a while, like a motorbike licence, you have to stay under 250cc tll you get a full licence.

Gudday Stephen. Obviously we have the same interests (apart from Holdens, i'm a Ford Man), but i too used to have some "REAL STEEL" when i was younger before wife and kids etc. 1971 XY Falcon 351 GTHO Phase 3. 351 cid, 1150cfm 4 barrell double pumper holley, 4spd top loader, and all the bits. 430 bhp !! Not too shabby for an "oldie".

Lawrie.

Is that a genuine shaker? check your PM.
Since I've matured I'm not firmly in one camp and I liked the fact that the pace car was a Hemi V8 Chrysler!
I had an Aussie 4.1 Cortina Mk4 and a couple of 308 HT. I even had a Zodiac with a 272 truck motor. Good puller but nothing special.
But this 'Shaker' does interest me,can you post a pic? I don't have the technology yet , no scanner or digital camera, I will soon,I'll save up for Xmas, now that I have my CH products yoke, pedals and throttle Qudrant! I'm just wondering what colour your shaker was? I have a Shaker! It's the buttkicker seat shaker thing from the pilot shop! Will we ever grow up?
