GNZLAP Pack 3

The official Forum for the GNZLAP and Charl's other NZ AI addons

Postby Charl » Sun Oct 08, 2006 8:53 pm

AS ADVERTISED
On 8 October, on AVSIM.com and Flightsim.com : GNZLAP31.zip
112 AI planes for the North Island in total (together with previously released GNZLAP22.zip).
Heartening to see the downloads for Pack 2 well up on Pack 1 - the word is spreading!

Thanks for all the feedback, I hope most of the comments have been caught and patched in this release.
And any feedback from the new release is always welcome.

I don't think we see enough feedback about this, I mean it's one killer addon, I don't think people really understand the improvement it gives us around NZ. There was a time when all we had was default AI, and that wasn't great. Now I take it for granted that airports are going to have some life to them, and AI-watching is a reasonable (but not entirely healthy) way to pass the time.

I agree toprob, I've been hanging around Hamilton to catch the C152 EJZ I have flown and serviced (changed oil and clean plugs) It is a proper Aerobat and it has a tail dragger kit that can be swapped with the trycycle set up that the Waikato aeroclub periodically change to. That was 20 yrs ago and it's still around being abused by student pilots-incredible

Probably a dumb question but in Pack 2 it says to back up your AFCAD Files. Does that mean that you have to repeat the process in pack 3 What is the procedure if you have pack 2 installed? I guess I'll get the hang of this IA thing yet.

Thanks for that Info Charl. I Did what I thought was the right thing anyway and lo and behold I saw My first AI at Great Barrier ZK-PLA . I haven't purchased the HTAI yet so I don't expect I'll see too much. I understand now about the AFCADS (I Think). It is an excellent project and I will be following it with Interest.

Hey Charl,

Just a question (didnt know where to put it so I put it here)... Howcome ZK-JBL is painted in GNZLAP colours? or with the words on the wing and side?

Just curious as this is my baby aircraft, the one I fly in real life! :D  I was rather excited to see it at Ardmore!!

That is soo Embarrassing.
Here's what KAG is talking about:

But take another look:

OK. This aircraft is clearly marked in the database as: Fix textures before publishing.
What happened was that I was painting it, and as great painters do, I had an inspiration: What about a plane advertising the project?
So I doodled some script all over my paint, and then saved it as a BMP overwriting the original and losing the layers.
When I re-opened it I saw all my excellent work had been for nought on the original now ruined by the doodle, and so I went off and watched Coronation Street
(Not! I hate CS but something like that just to demonstrate sulking).
That was long ago - you can see it was before the"Light" got in the title of GNZLAP.

Howdy Charl,

Was wondering if it was at all possible for future releases to include Readme information re: commercial GA activity?

As I already have flightplans installed for: Air Napier, Aspiring Air, Great Barrier, Mountain Air, Sounds Air, Air2There and Sun Air (some of these date back to 2004-5), it would be great to know what is included in each pack so I can delete the appropriate flightplan and not "double-up".

I suspect that packs 1-3 do contain several commercial operations, notably Great Barrier and Air2There. It would be nice to weed out any other flightplan duplications.

TIA.
Regards,
Dorian

Dorian,
Just one thing re the charter and small airlines they have been updated since I first released them so overwrite your old ones with the ones contained within the GNZLAP plans

Howdy,

Guilty as charged, mi'lud. :D

Actually, I'm not really holding out as all of these flightplans are available for download from Avsim (or Project AI, or MRAI). You just have to look for them.

DustEagle, for example, released a NZ FP pack some time ago which contained flightplans for about a half dozen NZ companies. Other FP's were simply gleaned from the Avsim library whenever they appeared. All, however, are dated 2004 or 2005, and I'm sure the timetables have changed a little bit since then. ;)

Further to the ZK-JBL debacle:
Filled with shame I have ventured into Cessna territory usually reserved for master painter Steve Jenks, and fixed my previous doodle:

This would qualify for my "Real vs Sim" screenshot category, too.

KAG, to answer the Pajero question:
It's in the Pack 1 download
