Hery everyone, I went to Sydney with my family for a week as a holiday. Here arer the aviation pics I got:

Another Qantas 737-400. This one was supposed to be our aircraft to Sydney, however it was having technical difficulties of some sort, so we were delayed. It's ZK-JTP


ZK-SJB, and ANZ 737. It used to belong to Freedom air, so it's engine nacelles are blue.

---BANKSTOWN PICS---
One day Dad and I caught the train out to Bankstown to have a look around the airfield. One thing led to another and I ended up going for a flight in a C152, VH-WRQ for some circuit practice.

I'd never flown a Cessna 152 before (I flew a 172 once or twice at the start of the year). The tecnam I use has incredibly light controls, so the 152 was a bit of a shock to the system so start with, I was all over the place for the first circuit! ANyway, Bankstown was really windy, so it was a real challlenge to fly. We only got 2 circuits done, my first landing was good but my second was horribly hard. No harm done though.

I also noticed that the whole aviation atmosphere was different at Bankstown. People casually chatted to the controllers about what they wanted to do instead of using a fairly rigid formula like nelson. Also people taxied a lot faster. I was taxiing along at my usual Nelson pace, when the instructor said "I have control", grabbed the Throttle and hooned down the taxiway.

I didn't get many pics at Sydney, I couldn't find many good spots close enough for good photos. We only had 15 minutes of leisure time anyway.

My favourite pic of the whole trick, a Malaysian 747


A bunch of aircraft parked up next to eachother, including 747s and 767s. My favourite was the Atlas Air 747F.

May I just ask how you managed to get such good access to the planes at Welly?

I took the 1st four WN pics inside the intl departures lounge. You get pics of climbing aircraft if you're quick, but I had to use digital zoom to get that first dash 8, hence the poor quality. ZK-SJB was taken when we stepped off our Dash 8 from Nelson, it was parked right there. The last 737 pic taken in Wellington was right down the southern end of the terminal, through a window. It's near where all the ANZ Link aeroplanes park up. I also snapped our Saab there, but I got this weird flare effect where the landing light on the wing was, so I deleted it.

Also note that I FAR prefer the Tecnam to the C152. It's got equal cruise speed, better fuel economy (18 litres/hour vs 24 l/h according to the Aussie instructor), more modern, electric trim (no reaching over for the trim wheel), has lighter controls, easier-accessible engine cowls and lower stall speed. It's just a more comfortable plane to fly. When I had my first tecnam flight I was like . Unfortunately intentional spins are prohibited and it won't carry the same weight as a 152 .

Those QF 737's are all 737-300's and not -400's..

Hey raJ. In the Qantas safety cards in the seat pockets it said 737-400. I'm confused.

Qantas are replacing their 733's with the 734's from Australia. From what I understand is that the -300s are becoming too old, and Qantas need to dump their -400's somewhere: where better than their less important NZ operation.

I'll have to ask the missus... she works at JetConnect... they operate Qantas Domestic operations here in NZ, as well as some of the Trans-Tas routes...

Anyway, some nice photo's... and i know what you mean about 152's... they are... errr... "very agile"

Definitely more nimble that a 172 or PA28-161... probably didnt help that the one i was flying was setup for aerobatics... those harnesses are a to get on!

well spotted, the photo is of JNG (733)- you can see the rego on the side of the aircraft too, and it has only 1 door over the wing: a 734 has 2
must now be out of storage, because airfleets.com said it was in storage.

but ZK-JTP is a -400, so maybe monkeybdg flew on it

Anyway, I flew on JTP which was a 400. JNG and JNN were both parked at Wellington near the departure lounge. We were going to fly on JNG but it had technical difficulties.
