What freeware sound pack would you guys recommend for a Polikarpov I-16? I really, really want one that gives the impression of the ASh-62, with the crackling rumbling noise that only the Polys can do.

I had a similar sound for a Yak-52 I had a while back, but I've completely forgotten where it was.

Any ideas at all? And what FS2004-compatible models of the I-153 are available?

I don't know the answer to that sorry. I'm posting here because I have a question myself, being what is involved in recording sound from the aircraft? It is very clever how it works.
Of couse some sound packages are better than others.
How the revs go up and down properly and the seamlessness of the loop in the WAV file are truly amazing.
Does anybody know what equipment is needed to record with? If I know this and it is feasable I could really get into going around recording aircraft sound!
The Poly at Wanaka, the Fletcher somewhere. These two aircraft have very distinctive sounds and any aliasing would be a sad but necessary evil.
I've lost count of the number of times I've downloaded a plane to find a default Kingair panel and sound. I already have a Kingair(which is a great aeroplane) and I prefer it to something else that only difers in 'Spot' view.
If I had the right gear and knew that say a Poly was going to be flying on a certain day at a certain time I would happily drive the 3.5 hours to Wanaka to record it. A phone call to the right people in Wanaka shouldn't make it prohibitavly difficult if I had my act together.
If I got a recording of an aircraft starting and going through the rev range etc.. and then got back home and load it into the computer, I would be going now what?
I imagine that now the real work begins.
Your query about the Poly and the keen interest in Deanes Fletcher that he is developing has got me thinking (again)
2 wrongs don't make a right but 2 Wrights made an aeroplane!

I exist purely to inspire!

But that would be terrific, and a fine idea!

So how do you make FS sounds? Interesting.....
