going spotting to see the 727 take off is worth the trip alone
that thing screams like nothing else, and you can hear it for a long time because it climbs at about 2 feet per minute, trailing black smoke

I had the enormous fortune some time ago of having the DHL/Asian Express Airlines 727 performing touch and gos and missed approaches for about an hour; got heaps of good pictures, of which I think this was the highlight:

The Airwork 737-200 is another great one for noise and smoke; I actually saw it in Invercargill of all places earlier in the year, and boy is it noisy on takeoff!

Zöltuger,You got that Right..It is amazing to see the 727's..The sound the Trail of smoke and every time it take's-off u would think that there's gonna be a Tail Strike..The tail is just few metres of the Runway..It's bloody awesome sight to see a 727..

Nice shots of the 727 Flying Kiwi..It's lucky that u manage to get it doing touch n go's and missed approaches..very rare to catch that..

I use a high speed shutter setting pretty much because that's what I've always used; although well composed shots with "motion" prop discs look great, I've also found that the potential for it coming out looking horribly wrong is a lot higher.

Great collection once again Raj, I particularly like the last 747 shot, what position where you snapping from this time?

I actually went planespotting yesterday afternoon, but thanks to a big car crash on Harris Road, I was held up on the way, and by the time I got to the lookout carpark the sun had already set and my camera seemed to be playing up so I didn't get any good photos.

Transmile 727... where did the DHL one go?

I discovered that the bridge going from Puhinui Road over the Manukau Harbour inlet to the Field Air hangers is an absolutely perfect place to snap pics from, especially in the pinkish light of the evening sun. There is a footpath across the bridge that lets you capture the planes real low over the sea, giving you brilliant reflections in the water- if only my camera was working!

Anyhow, I must get back to NZAA asap, in the summer I think I might spend a full day there so I can get to see all the different aircraft that arrive at different times of the day!

Cause DHL's 727 is in Malaysia for Maintainance..Transmile's 727 is covering up..Not to sure if DHL's 727 is back from Maintainance yet..The Rego for the Transmile 727 is 9M-TGK..
