Monthly Multiplayer session

For everything about online flying around New Zealand

Postby Jimmy » Sun Jul 23, 2006 5:37 pm

Hi all :D

Trolly and I discussed this a while ago and nobody seemed interested in a monthly mulitplayer game, with toprobs ts server it might make things a bit more fun.

We could share the hosting around so no one has to be commited to hosting it every month.
The first saturday of every month could work, in the evening.
Please reply if you think this is a good idea (or have any suggestions) and would be some fun, and also a good way to try online flying if you've never done it before :) .

Could be good, although usually default multiplayer is a bit buggy if you don't get things exactly the way it wants them ;) . And the hosting would have to be done by someone with broadband. :) Why not use a server like the one shown in the "Multiplayer for Dummies" thread? Or an online one like IVAO or VATSIM?

sounds like a good idea to me jimmy and i think a main sever would be best anyway , how many can you fit in to vatsim anyway ?is this default like msfs is ?
im in to this, would there be like a mission or a base flight to go on ?like here to there
im yet to get my teamspeak up and running so mite miss out the first flight but will get it up and running again out of the cobwebs
some good mission like real world missions on other times during the month would be good aswell
im in youve sold me :D

VATSIM and IVAO are networks of servers, the maximum limit has not yet been reached, on IVAO the most users that has been online concurrently is 1343, and the servers were showing no signs of stress ;) . The catch with IVAO and VATSIM is that you have to create an account and download a client to be able to use the network.

Yeah we can do hops and races and all sorts of stuff :)
mike... you can still join in not using ts as we can just type instead for you.

if we use an ivao server or something, like you said alex, not every one is a member and we can't just muck around and do what we want.

Can anyone on cable host next month?

One thing I've just thought, my bandwidth is renewed every month on the 8th. It is possible that I'll be speed-restricted before this, it's never happened yet but there is always a first time. Probably this month, damn those huge Xbox Live downloadable demos...

As this may affect the Teamspeak server, mid-month would make more sense. We'll see what happens in the meantime.

Hi guys,

I'd love to fly online with my friends from downunder. A couple of things I have to figure out first, 1. Time difference, here in the Florida Panhandle of the USA, wee're on central time. I believe its Zulu -6 hrs. 2. I might not be able to use teamspeak to talk with you, just listen, G/F will probably be sleeping when I'm flying with you.

I'll need to know how to figure out the time difference.

If you use FSHostSpy, there are many sites we could use for mulitplayer flights, why not use one of those & we could free fly, or make a group flight, maybe formation flights, too.

HC :)

Great :D some interest!

lately iv been flying on ivao and find that this would be great for a flight with us all but not every one is a ivao member.
So if someone can just set up a normal fs9 multipplayer seesion that wouyld be great, I don't think well excede the 16 person limit at all.

How does saturday the 19 sound? if you can all post what the differance is bettwen your local time and UTC so we can sort out when would be best :)
I'm sure if we just have somefun muking around in the sky not haveing to wroy about atc or anything and just to some hops or formation aerobatics etc.. well have a good time :D

Thanks
James

Yes I'll be in,I will set up a host TS and we can multiplay on my Broadband no problem,I struggle to use all my 10 gigs on peak and 10 gigs off peak as it is.I didn't know the default was so buggy,I realize now why I have IBNet(the Euro guys I fly with told me to install,it's free and they all love it)My IP is 203.109.245.252. That will be the Teamspeak and Multiplayer IP,it does not change like when most "go on the net" they get a new IP address every time. You can ask for a static at iHug and they give you one for free, any extra ones you want aren't free.

Yes, I'll try to fly with you! The first 8 days of september am I "out of the house".
If we fly next saturday/sunday we onely need the right Teamspeak and Multiplayer IP in time.
(Codges server ????)

Greetz,

Max

Wasn't able to contact Codges server  . Next time better :) .
Teamspeak by Robin is still perfect.
Everyone outside NZ can use http://www.timezoneconverter.com/ for finding the right time for wake up?!
Heychief and I will survive.

I did some online flying with Munchbros-Alaska last year. Funny but Thursdaymorning 02.30am Dutch time; my boss didn't like it.
Saturday/Sunday will be better for everyone.

Max.

It was good to talk on Robins' TS yesterday with you Jimmy and Alex, and thanks for the tip Robin. To actualy meet over the airwaves and chat with people you have gotten to know on this forum is a buzz.
Jimmy you are a natural Rotorhead-very impressed I am.
We learned that although we can host sessions ourselves,it is far better to play on a server.Flightsim.com have one and the Swiss one we flew on is always available too. There will of course be heaps of others, these two are the ones I am familiar with that suit our needs, being relaxed and informal.
Feel free to sugest a date for another session, then we can say in plenty of time to adjust to suit. 10am-7pm Sat is my best time or after 8pm any night, as this is when I won't be hassled by my children!
For now anyway,we can meet on Robs' TS and decide what to do from there,so I'll log on (please have your TS running Rob) Saturday morning and see who shows.

I am all keen for the multiplayer flying but still havent grasped setting up TeamSpeak what does everyone think about using MSN Gaming zone to do a bit of multiplayer flying I have used it and it seems fine we could set up a password to keep the numbers strictly to NZFF members.
