Landclass scenery will cause problems unless it sits underneath everything else, such as local scenery like Auckland City.
Just go to the Scenery Library within the simulator and move the landclass down the list until it sits just below the 'Addon Scenery' entry.
There's a handy button to move it down so it is nice and easy. Then restart the sim and all should be back to normal.

Not sure if this will help, but I read something on the Godzone website which might be related to your problem:-

Announcement: Godzone and new mesh scenery incompatibility

All Godzone scenery was designed to 'fit' the older Geographx 150 metre and 40 metre meshes. With the release of the first SRTM 76 metre meshes, though, it became apparent that either the SRTM or Geographx meshes were wrongly located. While I was putting together the Wellington photoreal scenery, and building my own mesh from SRTM data, it was obvious that the Geographx data was in error.

This means that the Godzone scenery does not align well with any of the new meshes.

To fix this, I have decided to redo most of the Godzone photoreal scenery to match the new meshes, and release it as freeware on the flightsim library sites. This will take some time.

I intend to fully support the new meshes -- all the current 'Real New Zealand' scenery is designed for these -- as these are part of a total package, including coastlines, rivers, roads etc, and represent a huge step forward for NZ simming.

In the meantime, those of you who use Godzone scenery may wish to hold onto the old mesh, and maybe switch between the old and new mesh where appropriate. I know this is a nuisance, and I am sorry, but please be assured that this was not of my making, and I will do everything I can to fix it.

Hope that this provides some clues,

smooth landings!!

The 'incompatibility' refers to the old 'Godzone' scenery, which was distributed on the Godzone CDs in 2003/2004.
All 'Real New Zealand' scenery -- and all recent Godzone scenery, such as Wellington, Queenstown and Taranaki -- is compatible with the Red Baron meshes.

I get confused with scenery order and in particular whether having it higher on the list gives scenery priority, or vice versa.

I think it was the VOZ documentation that says scenery order should be:

Mesh
Scenery
Landclass

Where does the 'Add On Scenery' folder go in relation to this? What about Topo scenery? Timezones?

I had a trial and error attempt at getting the topo to show correctly without the old water boundaries showing as lines, at the moment I have in order... Timezones, then Addon Scenery, then NZ Airport / City sceneries, followed by Topo then Mesh (NZ, Japan, Aussie), then an Aussie LC, then Generic, Propellor, Vehicles and everything else. It seems like a dog's breakfast but seems to work fine.

Maybe someone could do a sticky post about scenery activation... nudge nudge

Timezones

What is that? I have never heard of it before- please explain!

My scenery libary is all over the place too.

This is what my list looks like: (the stuff at the top is the newest, and the stuff at the bottom is the oldest)

Other NZ Scenery (Kaikora, Mount Cook, Manukau Landmarks etc)
Andy Wiers Australian Mesh
REAL NZ Auckland City
Papua New Guinea Mesh
VOZ EZ Libary
VOZ Scenery
VOZ Landclass
Runway 12 Static Objects Libary
Rest of world addon scenery (Asia and America)
Red Baron 75m Mesh
Godzone Photoreal
Christain Stock's Landclass
European photoreal addons

My order that works for me is:
3. Scenery
2. Mesh
1. Landclass

Timezones is part of FS Realtime, a utility to keep your sim synched with real zulu time.

http://www.fsdome.com/library/fs98tools/1.htm

I don't run the program but by adding the files as add-on scenery it corrects NZ time with Zulu time taking into consideration Daylight Savings etc, and assists in working out local times when declaring Pireps when flying international flights across timezones for Virtual Pilots.
