Ever found yourself complaining in forums that google earth is great but bad quality in NZ? THIS IS THE ANSWER FOR YOU! ;)

I stumbled across a programme called world wind, which is pretty much google earth created by NASA. I found this a much better option than google earth and I was even able to find my house!!! :D

For those who don't know already- it is a 60mb install file and requires 2 GB of disk space! :o

And my personal FAVOURITE!! An 3d image of our Waikato farm. (in the red barrier) You will see in the red circle, some cows are visble walking back to the paddock after milking time. Compared to the real thing, this looks almost exactly the same!

I think it has a long way to go to compete with Google Earth. The only thing it can do better is the elevation. For those who haven't checked out Google Earth lately, it has much improved NZ coverage.

Thats cool I always thought Google Earth was lacking in the NZ department much like MS missed out on the flat hills of NZ :lol:
