Some NZAA Photos

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

I managed a bit of photography at Auckland Int'l today, although the weather wasn't ideal but there were some breaks in the rain this afternoon and mostly reasonable lighting. I was trying to capture a rainbow in the background on a couple of occasions, but unfortunately that didn't work out. Still, enjoy what I've got here. ;)

Air New Zealand A320; sorry about the poor lighting. :(

Qantas Jetconnect 737-300; lighting's a bit iffy on this one too.

Mountain Air Islander, I've noticed the paint on the tail of this one needs a bit of a touchup.

Probably the highlight of a reasonably uneventful afternoon, Singapore 747-400. I'll be flying on one of these in about a month. :)

One advantage of a wet runway is it throws up some interesting photographic conditions, in this case, note the piano key runway markings reflected on the aircraft's rear fuselage.

I wish now I'd got a photo of the spray on takeoff, but I didn't.

Any comments/constructive criticisms/wild praise is perfectly welcome. :P

Fantastic photos FlyingKiwi!

It's great to see some pictures on here from NZAA apart from my own, and you have really outdown me, your photos are amazing :D :D :D

Where you at the Puhuinu Drive carpark to take thse?

Also, what camera did you use? I ask because you must have a pretty good zoom to be able to get good close quality like that. :D

Thanks for much for sharing, and if you get anymore, please post them too!

PS.
I noticed the Qantas 767's have had the slogan changed on the fuselage from "THE SPIRT OF AUSTRALIA" to "THE AUSTRALIAN AIRLINE". Was that why the Australian Airline 767's have been flying to Auckland last week while the QF's got repainted???

Yeah, I was in that carpark. I've noticed that some of the Qantas 767s still say "Spirit of Australia" on them, not sure whether they'll all eventually say "The Australian Airline" or just some. Still, it adds a bit of variety so I'm not complaining. ;)
I use a Canon EOS350D, and my lens that I used for taking those photos is a 90-300mm one, although I have a couple of smaller ones that I sometimes use also. (e.g. photographing planes up close at Ardmore and airshows I sometimes use the stock 18-55mm lens that comes with the 350D)
