Howdy,

See: http://kadaitcha.cx/ntfs.html

And, to find out which file system you have, open Windows Explorer, select C drive and right click. Choose Properties. The drive property box will appear listing the type of file system you're using.

Sometimes, when NZ addon airports are given a Province name, this can act as a filter in the select-airport list. Make sure that 'Canterbury' isn't in the Province filter search box.

Yeah i noticed that but i checked all the filters and my NZ airports out of Canterbury just don't seem to ecsist. Is this something the auto installer could have done or the way iv got the scenery lists proritys

Sounds like YOU installed it incorrectly! Sorry thats blunt but most problem are user error! Try posting a message on the Forum there and see what someone comes up with, my guess is a one off user error though.

Sounds like you were over eager and deleted a important bgl! That being the case then you will need to reinstall the scenery bgs for NZ again from your FS9 discs.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT to do a complete reinstall a hand tip! Rename your current FS9 then install a fresh FS9 copy!

Rename that to FS9 Backup and restore the original FS9 folder name and copy the folders from your back up if you should screw up again!

How many times have you heard people say oh I got to reinstall FS again! To many and this from someone who has his original install from 18 months ago and does not want to spend days reinstalling.

The thing is that the problem with all my airports dissapering happend before i had deleted the bgl's . All i did was run the installer then start up fs and my airports wernt there .

i hope iv got space on my remaining 4 gig on my hard drive to have a FS9 backup . but it would realy be a good thing because im usaly reinstalling at least once a mounth (last wednesdays reinstall was becuase a uninstall thing that said "uninstall posky aircraft " actuly was a short cut to the main fs uninstaller !)

Stop stirring ;)

How else do you explain the problems Jimmy has? Considering his system and inexperiance with Flight sim then I will also say the problem does not relate to the scenery but how it was installed.

Problem we have here is unless your in the room with someone looking at the screen or PC you cant say for 100% what the actual problem is.

It sounds like Jimmy has corrupted his FS9 installation somehow and does not know how to fix it. I also get fed up with people blaming computers for problems which someone must have inputted the dat with for them to stuff up.

Hmmmmm intresting

true , I do admit iv only been adictid to this game 14 mounths now but i have got some experiance ,and me and BM dont have any tension and i hope that never happens here in these forums.

I'm certain that this is not a user error , yet it could be a conflict with other addons i have ? I will do a reinstall tomoro and test to try and find out what went wrong.

Yep! USER ERROR!

intresting also. Maby BM just said this as he lacks the experiance to help solve the problem ???

I'm bot saying this isnt user error and if it is i will tell you all. But if it is it was not threw lack of wisdom it may have been an acident that could have happend to any body as they were eating breakfast reading there cp mag and installing scenery all at the same time.

P.S: I have no problem with black magic at all :)

I'm sorry I cannot help solve your problem Jimmy as I have never experienced what you are describing in this thread.

I have been playing fs2004 ever since it was released, and built up a huge folder size, but after m aircraft started randomly banking, I decided to re-install which took me about a week to do (backing up scenery files, re-installing from disks etc), and although it was a lot of bother, it was definitely worth it because my flightsim now runs like a dream :D

Another good tip is to defrag your hard drive that fs2004 is installed on regally, to avoid photoreal blurries etc.

All the best with getting your sim sorted.

Hi Jimmy

Maby BM just said this as he lacks the experiance to help solve the problem ???

ROFL ......... I shall be on the first flight down if that helps :D

Sorry Jimmy, the problems you describe as far as I know have not come up before but as suggested you should go to the people who designed the software as they may have had this bug reported.

Correct me if I am wrong but did you not mention elsewhere your system was running slow and you did not know what spyware was? It is possible that you could have a virus in the system thats corrupting things and also like Cheeky said you need to defrag your drive! Especially as its such a small drive.

There are a couple of good programmes around that help you keep your flighsim running smooth! But you do need to keep the operating system clean as well.

scanafd - (Avsim) Ideal for finding duplicate AFCADS (airports) Caution as some may show as duplicate yet are needed. Ask someone if unsure before deleting!

Flightsimmanager - Very good Diag tool and other features www.ranainside.com

As I say about Drive size I have to make my partition larger to fit some more rubbish in my FS

I did a reinstall the other day ,after a long time starring at my fs folder i finaly decided i had baked up everything i needed and now the christchurch/canterbury scenery works great :)
I did excacly te same thing installing the scenery as the first time.
I supose that the scenery could have clashed with something else i had installed ???

I'm happy with it now ! all my airports are there now. Thanks for all the sugestions guys ! :D

I know reinstalling FS is a hassle,I had to do it again recently after buying Red Baron 20m&Topo and it just would not install. By the time you've mucked around trying to find out why it is faster to just save some planes and sceneries and maybe your FS9CFG and reinstall. Then you know where you are and that nothing is interfearing with your new addon. It is just the way it is especially with freeware stuff as everything has to work with each other. Every addon we add has the potential to stuff up the whole sim. There is no way around this. You just have to add them one by one and test each one as you go.It is a good opportunity to drop all those planes you don't fly much and the sceneries you hardly use.You can always add them again later if you want.Try to keep the overall size of the sim as small as possible,it will load faster and theres less chance of conflict. You need to Defrag your hard-drive at least once a week not 3 weeks. Also run the defragger 3 times one after the other-it does a better job each time. With XP you need 15% free space for the defragger to work properly,4 gigs may not be enough unless you have a 20gig HD or less. Also you may have to defrag each drive seperatly,If you've sectioned off bits to store this big canterbury file it may show up as a different drive. I have Red Baron 20m&Topo so don't have to do this. Dividing up a drive does slow things down a bit,I reckon you're best to get the 20m&Topo anyway-it is definately worth it. Empty the trash too. Don't use Norton it gets in to your system so deep and slows down FS.There is a way of completely deleting it,you have to go to their website and search it out.I got rid of it when I did a complete reinstall of windows and just did'nt put it back on. AVG is good and free and doesn't slow down the sim. Don't delete any default planes as if you fly online you'll need them and it corrupts the FS9CFG. Reinstalling FS every month certainly is excessive though,If my memory serves me right you are the 13yr old pilot and it could be a case of "fools rush in where angels fear to tread". I am definately not saying you are a fool, I am saying slow down, one thing at a time, check, test even reboot. I had the freeware de Havilland Mosquito, installed it flew it-great I had wanted one for ages and it was impressive too with good VC and all,But then when I exited the sim it would not restart and even said the Mozzy was to blame. So I have no Mozzy now(if anyone knows of this problem and how to fix it I would be grateful) but I'm very happy with the P38 Lightning as a substitute.
