Thinking of Moving To Australia

NO!!! WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT MOVE THERE!!!

Sorry but I have to voice my opinion

I have often wondered why so many Kiwi's move across the ditch.
Although it seems as though Australia is "the land of milk and honey" it really is not.(Not saying its a bad place or anything)

Reasons why not to:
High crime levels;
Higher unemployment than New Zealand;
Ongoing droughts and water restrictions;
In the west you are miles from civilisation;
Studies show that Australia is fairly depressed as a whole;
There is some very high suicide rates in places;
And finally why would anyone want to leave the greatest nation on earth...NZ?

I think we should stop moving west and see if we can the population up to 5 mil. by the end of the year (thats a hard ask lol)!!!

Eventually NZ should be such a strong economic power house that Australia has no choice but to come crawling to our doorstep and join NZ as a third island LMAO :D

Ok seriously now if you have ever thought about moving to OZ I bid you to rethink and stay in NZ. If you have family overseas invite them to move over here. And do what Peter Costello(I think) says in Australia-have a third child for the country. No I am not being racist, nor do I hate Australia, I would just love to see New Zealand grow a lot more than it is.
I am sure that many patriotic New Zealanders would feel the way I do...right?!

Why the sudden anti-ozzie post?

Was it because Rove made fun of NZ on his show last friday by any chance :lol:

LOL, I'm just joking, I know it's just friendly rivalry. I have seen a very funny post card with a map of Australia and New Zealand, showing labels for the North Island, South Island, and Australia as the "West Island" :lol:

And where will that million come from? No thanks I like this country small and I like to be away from large populations aka Auckland ;)

Being a migrant from Pomgolia, I am proud to be bringing my Daughter up in New Zealand and proud of what it is. I swore I would not bring any children up in England and that part I have kept. New Zealand should be proud of what its got rather than trying to beat the aussies, what we have the rest of the world has lost. Thats why I am proud to identify myself as a New Zealander.

Lose your identity and you will become another state of the USA rather than a strong island nation. Already that deteriation has come with the adoption of US style of spelling in our schools.
Blame this on microsoft Windows :(

I am proud of what we have and you should be to.

I am happy with New Zealand, its just I would like to see it become a little 'stronger' if you get my drift. I mean I wouldnt like it to turn into something like the States, thats way to crowded and dirty-ie LA.

And also I am just wondering why so many are moving to OZ, I heard on the news that at the current rate of immigration, 1 in 3 Maori would live in OZ. All Im saying is why move west when we have a perfectly good country to live and work in.

One word : WEATHER ! :D

But NZ is a great country and anothor thing to add to the list of why NZ is better is that we can water our gardens as much as we like (not only2 days a week for a few hours) :)

we can water our gardens as much as we like (not only2 days a week for a few hours)

Its nearly as good as the belief that it does not get cold enough in Aussie for Snow :)

How much would your water bill be from that? Thats just stupid wasting water like that.
Considering I still live in OZ most of the year, it has become second nature to not waste water. People who just leave hoses running all day are arrogant, even if you have trillions(maybe?) of litres of water, you dont need to use it all.

:angry:

Kismet, In another post you say about tension between BM and Jimmy! Yet here your calling him (jimmy) arrogant for water wasting?

Ha and we have the best water in the world here in christchurch

Dont be so sure my friend the canterbury water table is dropping and theres a lot of polutants seeping into the water supply! You want clean water thats the best in the world try the water falls at Milford Sound as long as no possum has peed in it and its away from where people walk you can 99.9% guarentee its drinkable.
