Big radials for Mike

Not my screen, its from one of the clever War thunder team, but I thought Mike might like it.

At the very mention of; "Big Radials", (one of my favourite subjects), I was immediately taken back to the 1990 Arnold Swartsnegger film; "Total Recall", and my delight on seeing the well-blessed young Lady sporting three of the lovelies!.... ....!

Very nice indeed, mate. Italy was building some great machines in the inter-war years. I have quite a lot in my old FS (X) Classic, which is yet to be rebuilt.. There will be some screenies somewhere too. From memory, I think this one was called the hunchback, and used P&Ws licence-built by Alfa Romeo.

I think that's a CANT Z1007Bis.. I believe it was called Alcione. There was a single fin version as well.
A seaplane version was called Airone.
I agree that the Italians had some elegant aircraft types , one of my favorites is the S.79 Sparviero torpedo bomber..nicknamed Damned Hunchback.

Simon, I think you're right - I was a bit confuddled with the Savoia Marchetti S79 racer.

Not to mention the Fiat G12 which had Alfa Romeo built Bristol Pegasus engines

Mike, there was also the Piaggio P.108 , the only four engine bomber Italy produced. Only about 39 were built.
