I have a 3D lineview drawing which shos the Tiger having two nose ribs between the main wing ribs, but looking at the photos I get the impression there's only one. Related question - how many wing ribs are there really? The schematic shows 10, the model paintkit has only nine.

Yes, I am progressing... B)

Also... regarding the Whittaker's paint - is the aircraft registration on the wings? Top, bottom, both?

And... anyone got a good shot of the wings over Wairarapa logo?

I am completely rebuilding the paintkit by the way.

Hi Chris

The registration doesn't appear on the wings at all, they are just gold overall, top and bottom, with the fine brown edge that you can see in the close-up pic I posted earlier. My scanner is working now so I will see if I can get some good reference and post it here for you.

My father has written a book about Tiger Moths so I will ask him about the rib question. Should be catching up with him in the next day or so, so I will have a definitive answer for you about the ribs by the weekend at the latest.

Good on you for persevering - look forward to your chocolate moth :)

Thanks Jenks!

here's a taster - I know the dark outline is still too big, but I am using the "mould" from the default Moth for now, while I figure the kit out. And there's no alpha yet to make the gold shinier... later

...and yes, I know the Whittaker's logo is the wrong way round on the left.

(edit)

A couple more, with improvements (still work in progress) to the wing rib count top and bottom of the upper wing

Looking good Chris :)

Apologies for my long absence, being busy at work and having my PC expire have kept me away from FS for a while.

I had a chat to my Dad and we looked through truckloads of reference including various pics of Tigers under construction and under repair... and the final definitive answer...

Some aircraft have two nose ribs between each main rib, while others have one. We also found written reference to say that there were three nose ribs between each main rib :(
We couldn't work out which came first, or what the criteria was for having one or other, but suffice to say any of these could be termed 'correct'.

As far as the main ribs go, going by the photographic reference we looked at there appear to be 10 full size main ribs but with a smaller one close to the tip - if that makes sense?

I have come up with a couple more pics that may help. Unfortunately I never took a decent pic of the fin/rudder logo at the time so this is the best I can offer at present.

A bit distant I'm afraid, but I have asked a few friends to have a look for any they may have taken.
Here are a couple more that may be useful as well.

I will be heading over to the Tiger's home airfield on the 21st of January to attend an airshow, so if there is any specific detail you need then I can get it for you then.

Keep up the good work.
