Quite busy with Chinooks out of Sembawang when we were there.
Hope you got to the Light Show!
I suspect our paths may have crossed at some point, going West.

Here's another R v S. We got a good view going up the gondola, where I took the pic.
Then the "Table Cloth " settled on Table Mountain.
We had a great lunch, up in the clouds.

Indeed, takes a little while to settle in though.

Saw the big tree light display...only two days in Singapore. Our paths must of crossed but didn't have time to get to Cape Town unfortunately. Went directly to Johannesburg and north from there into Botswana and Zimbabwe.

We ended up at a game lodge up there, too!
Wanna trade elephant shots? :)

Lol - I have plenty of those!

I was roughing it and camping on the Delta (also did a scenic flight in in a Gippsland Airvan over the Delta - will need to post some of these pics), near Chobe, Matobo, Hwange and Kruger, amongst others

Last year, I took a pic at Duxford while wandering about the place.
It all seemed very familiar...

Woah !!!! ok now your scaring me :o .. super impressive, has that been customised detail wise? .. surely not out-of-the-box MSFS right? guess it's just a matter of time till there's enough user and satellite contributed base imagery and data?

I waxed lyrical the other day, about the amazing freeware EDKB that is a work of utter devotion.

Well, Duxford is the grand daddy of freeware MSFS.
ChicoMick deserves the undying gratitude of a whole generation of warbird flight simmers for this effort.
I go back there time after time and marvel...

Real vs Sim?

Image

Almost: the YouTube algorithm found me because I’d been searching for information on the little Icon amphibian.
It sent me to this clip hosted by a very cool pilot from the Icon factory.
The demo flight went from Seattle to a lake in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

I thought it might be fun to find this lake (no mean feat but GE is really good) and transplant the journey into MSFS.
I do wonder how the bush pilots made their way around this kind of terrain before GPS.
I made the resulting screens into a little slideshow rather than an endless scrolling screenshot affair.
Here:

And here’s the clip that inspired it

Watch on youtube.com

Postscript:
Sadly, I learned that legendary aircraft designer, test pilot, and unsung hero in aviation Jon Karkow and passenger Cagri Sever, both from Icon, lost their lives doing just this.

Marty, thanks for looking!
I notice I've been hovering around this little plane for a loong time, it just seems to answer to so many flight possibilities.
