Mike just made a good point .... fly as opposed to construct a screen .
OK screen mods , lets instigate a new rule right now ....2127hrs on the 5th of June 2018 .... 100% Flightsim ...no blending, modifying ...word it as you wish.

Mainly because I dont want to see or hear these kind of things again ... " I fly my screenshots, rather than constructing them :nahnah:"

In fact, if it comes down to this ... then count me out from here on in .

Ooooh dear ... I just knew this was going to go the wrong way!

I wasn't going to post anything for fear of cluttering up a *voting* thread with [perfectly valid] rules discussion, but here goes anyway ...

The problem we're always going to end up with is exactly how much "editing" is allowed - and whether it's even detectable/enforceable. For instance, I usually sharpen some areas slightly and occasionally correct what I think may be poor lighting or contrast. I very rarely fiddle with colour - and never cut & paste or re-compose beyond basic cropping. I paid a fortune to use Photoshop (for work) so have access to a great tool that will allow me to make changes with subtlety and control. In theory (if I do it right) people shouldn't think "hey, that's been edited" - but it has. Does that give me an unfair advantage? Maybe.

By the same token, I often try to amend the definitions of themes to make them general enough to not exclude people that haven't spent all their pocket money on the latest aircraft or scenery add-on. It's actually quite hard to pitch things right ...

For as long as I can remember, a degree of "creative editing" and collage effects has always been allowed. Ian Warren (R.I.P.) often constructed rather fanciful screenshots that were absolutely *NOT* taken "on the fly" but I think most people enjoyed.

If we were getting 100 entries per comp, then maybe we could have a case for "tightening things up" - but as it stands, I think anyone that thinks outside the box (slightly!!) should be encouraged.

ANYWAY - I think Mike was being light-hearted and meant no offence. I respect his "style" of image just as much as Marty's. They're both good shots!

As a penance, you have to go polish up that B-29 for the next screencomp ... all on your own, by hand, with an oily rag

RAF slang for that was "jankers" - is it the same in NZ?
