Many of us are well-versed in the battles of Guadalcanal and Munda—Ironbottom Sound and the surrounding area—and will quickly realize that the CAC CA-13 Boomerang has no business being there. My sole objective was simply to be operating in the Pacific during 1943–44, for the sake of flying this particular aircraft.... This backdrop is not perfect. This is evident, for instance, in the parked B-17s, which—with their specific markings and lack of camouflage paint—do not belong to this era. The order mandating camouflage was later rescinded, as it became more critical to be recognized by friendly forces while airborne than to conceal the aircraft on the ground. It is also interesting that, after takeoff, the AI aircraft made no move to retract their landing gear.
I had actually intended to fly over the entire scene, but apparently I made a mistake, and the engine "retched" miserably. And that is how I ended up coming into Janina...
