More XP12 fun...

Postby VintageAirplaneFanNZ » Fri Apr 18, 2025 6:00 pm

Just updated the beta version of XPlane 12.2.0 Beta 3. Some more graphical adjustments to clouds and lighting. Not the best day to try and fly but interested to see how the real weather interprets the WX data. Fairly close I guess.
Default install with only SimHeaven and Lydiman scenery installed. Used the VSkyLabs AS22 LS Aeroprakt, nice wee plane to fly but needs a bush runway to really be fun!

My sort of fun Ultralight Aeroplanes, which I use to explore around the deserts of California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona (the Sierra Nevada Mountains).
Cub Crafters X Cub, Auster Ji, Aeronca Champ and Chief, Zlin Savage Cub, Flight Design CTSL, Icon A5, etc...
Proper little aeroplanes for camping and fishing in the wilds!.... :D ...! Always loads of fun!.... ....!
Trikes and Tail Draggers!
Paul... :UK: ...England... :D ...!

Pretty much my entire hangar of sim planes I've purchased are Ultralights and Light Sport Aircraft, they truly are waaaay to much fun to fly, especially in the bush here in NZ! Im waiting for a decent Zenair 701 or 750 Super Cruiser to come out, the free ones are nice but I feel they don't really capture the 'feel' of the Zenair planes (actually got to have a flight in one at the local aerodrome...that was fun, especially landing in a river bed!).

Cheers for taking the time to reply, much appreciated!

Great fun t0 fly and plenty of power to get you up and away in no time! This is the VSkyLabs plane, I think its only in XP12, could be XP11 as well.
Love to see the shots in MSFS when you get to fly it!

Cheers for taking the time to reply and check out the pics.

I still want to find a (freeware) Aronca Champ and an Aronca Chief to supplement my trusty Auster J1 Aristocrat, for my daily MSFS2020 explorations!
I always love the simple layout of the instrument panels and gauges in vintage Aeroplanes...

Round glass gauges...>>
Compass.
Clock.
Engine Speed in RPM.
Air Speed in MPH.
Altitude in Feet.
Climb - Descent Indicator.
Turn and Slip Indicator. (Attitude).
Oil Temperature in Fahrenheit.
Oil Pressure in Lbs Sq In.

Gauges with needles!
Nothing more!
No fancy TV screens (Garmin 1000, etc) waiting for a power cut/blown fuse!

Fond memories of watching all the old aeroplanes in my local Shobdon Airfield (EGBS) in the 1950s and 1960s (Still in operation).
There is something quite comforting about the sound of an old, 1940 Gypsy Major Engine!... :D ...!

Paul.... :UK: ...England... ...!

Indeed! I've had more fun flying planes with steam gauges than ones with Glass pits!
I quite enjoy taking these two up sometimes, one will get me there the other does it in style :)
