Agree Ian - why do sooooo many people waste their life trying to find things to complain about?? - I bet if the airport was elsewhere they'd start complaining about trains or something

Just a load of pathetic losers who want to make as many other peoples lives miserable as they can

People are still complaining about it even though it finished 6 months ago.

They are uninformed about it and don't understand the reasoning behind it. Also they didn't start complaining until either airways/AIA Ltd put a press release out.

The report is quite interesting...

Location of complaints, at least 5 months into the trial

Half the complaints would not be made by an aircraft but by a bus or a truck go past on the street .... I wonder if there are any complaints over CHCH during northwester and since the closer of Wigram more traffic/aircraft come directly over the city for both looking to line up om 02 or 20 since the mid 90s .... never heard of such, all those blue dots .... get ATC to really use them as a traffic holding pattern even if they don't need to .... get the aircraft to fly in a circle half doz times each thumbup1.gif

LOL I've been the one taking these complaints.. BTW The red dot circling the complaint is right beside where I live, not sure why anyone would complain out here, we only have the Air Force occasionally doing low runs and making noise, the jets aren't really a concern out here. Some people just have to complain for the sake of complaining I guess...

Getting noisy planes diverted away from 'your' neighbourhood will do wonders for your property value. No one probably cares about the noise, just the $$

It's amazing that you don't hear any noise complaints from people living within 25 meters of railway lines with freight trains running past 24/7 unsure.gif

Noooo! Not the Snuffleupagus! ohmy.gif

Seriously though, is there any reason for NZAA SIDS and STARS to cross the central city at all? Not being a local, I could be missing something, but if the routes shown in the graphic were mirrored to the south, wouldn't they work just as well? unsure.gif
I mean, when you are commencing descent 60 or 100 miles out, it just needs a very small heading change to reach an IAF a few miles away from the old one, and the difference in fuel burn would be negligible - and by the same token, on departure (in jets, at least) you want to get as high as you can as quick as you can and head straight for the IAF at your destination, so with so much open ocean so close at hand, it makes sense to do the climb-on-course out there, without trundling over the city at 250kt to keep the noise down.
