I was thinking Taupo Skydive- ZK-SDT and ZK-TTL just for fun biggrin.gif

I'm not planning on doing a specific skydive version as there probably won't be any left in that role soon. ZK-SDT is now back as ZK-TPW dropping fert as it was designed to do. After the Fox Glacier crash it seems almost all the para Fletchers and Crescos are being sold or traded. The XL750 is the plane for the para job.
But heck - no problem with people painting in any colour they choose!

Actually I have just googled those two regos and they are both XL750's. Rego ZK-SDT has been used again. Yep its a pink plane too !!

Congrats on completing it Deane, and well done again. It looks like an amazing piece of work. But I'm sure I'll find that out in a couple of minutes when the download completes . Cheers!

It's certainly a brilliantly designed addon!

Just wondering about a couple things though....

1. Is there a way to either a) reduce the engine startup surge that forces the plane's nose to the ground OR b) increase the firmness of the nose gear so the plane doesn't dip so low when the startup surge occurs?

2. Could you take a look at the landing lights? The actual visible light point seems to be buried in the wing behind where the landing light bulb/filaments are on the actual plane.

All in all, a very enjoyable aircraft still!

Those are two issues which are very difficult to fix (read - I haven't been able to do it !)

I have no idea why the startup surges to a high power setting. It seems to be a bug in FSX that has I can find no control over. I have used the same settings with a few mods, that the default Cessna Caravan engine uses. You can try to increase gear firmness if you want, but it will mean that it will be stiff throughout all ranges.

The landing lights is another odd one too. If you try moving them forward anymore, you end up with strange blobs and other effects (at least on my PC).

The parameters for the settings above are in the aircraft.cfg file. You will need to look up the FSX SDK, before playing around with compression gear values. The lights are a simple x,y,z co-ordinate, so won't be hard to adjust that.

Here are the cfg entries with the numbers you want to adjust in bold:

//1 Longitudinal Position (feet)
//2 Lateral Position (feet)
//3 Vertical Position (feet)
//4 Impact Damage Threshold (Feet Per Minute)
//5 Brake Map (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right)
//6 Wheel Radius (feet)
//7 Steer Angle (degrees)
//8 Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid)
//9 Max/Static Compression Ratio
//10 Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)
//11 Extension Time (seconds)
//12 Retraction Time (seconds)
//13 Sound Type

Sean it all comes down to startup procedure. Contrary to common belief in the FSX community, but Microsoft have actually simulated turboprop startup quite well, very well in fact.

Number 1 rule, this applies in real TP startup as does it in FSX - The engine condition lever MUST be in the fuel shut off position untill the engine has spooled up enough oil pressure (usually around 46 - 52 PSI) and 20% on the N2 rpm. then and only then you open the condition lever to ground idle.

So in the FSX way because not many if any models out there make use of the ignition switch correctly here is the correct condensed way to start in FSX. Some models like the CS C-130 and others need the airbleed and apu's running first. But in the simpler models below is the correct modeled formula for FSX.

1: Throttle to idle
2: prop pitch to full feather
3: fuel condition to full off
4: main switch on
5: press start button
6: let N2 spool up to at least 20%
7: oil pressure to steady 46 - 52 psi
8: engine condition leaver to ground idle (if aircraft has functioning ignition switch, turn on now)
9: let N2 spool up and stablize
10: Generators on

Do that and Turboprops will not run away on you even with water and ice starts.
Regards always
Pete

Don't worry Adam, do it a couple of times and you'll embed it in your brain (possibly knocking out a few important PIN numbers in the process laugh.gif )

Thanks for the hints and tips everyone. I'll try those startup scenarios (was doing similar but I guess I wasn't waiting long enough before adding fuel), and if need be, I'll fidget with the compression points.

Update: Those start-up tips did the trick! A smooth, trouble free, start-up ensued!

Link now removed (final package will be available soon)

Dangit! angry.gif
I recently dusted off my FSX install (didn't use it for about a year or so...) to work on a repaint of Tim "Piglet" Conrad's T-33A with those crispy 4096 textures.

On this occasion I installed some of the RealNZ 2004 sceneries, which - apart from some elevation issues - work quite fine.

Now I thought I could take some low&fast spins with this Cresco... Bummer!

I love your FS9 Fletchers, Deane and I'm very much (and patiently...) looking forward to its final release.

Things aren't so bad at the dark side... ninja.gif

Cheers,
Markus.

Sorry Markus, but final release will be in next day or so. I was going to release in two parts, but because the modifications to make the dual control model didn't take long, I've decided to roll them together.
