Hi all,

Just a quick question about the "Aerosoft A320" Autopilot set up.
Is there such a thing as a quick way to getting the autopilot set? EG: Alt, Speed, VS etc.

I have had a play with the FMC/MCDU but I still can not change the numbers on the autopilot panel.

Is there something simple Im missing?

Look forward to any help I can get on this one.

Hi mate,

The Aerosoft A320/21 is a thorough and complex aircraft. Unlike many others, if you are doing even the smallest thing wrong (procedurally), it may prevent other functions working, just like in the real aircraft. Don't worry, I am not accusing you of this, but it is something to keep in mind. The best place to start is the thorough PDF files that come with the product, i.e: tutorials, guides, etc.

The second best place (arguably first) is YouTube. Simply search "Aerosoft A320 Autopilot Tutorial" - plenty of great videos and guides.

It is hard to say what you are doing wrong without seeing it first hand, but just remember: on the FCU (Flight Control Unit - i.e: the autopilot control panel on the glareshield), by "pressing" the knobs you are "managing" them. What this means is that it will get it's orders from whatever you have programmed in the CDU (Control Display Unit). If you "pull" the knobs, you are "un-managing" them. This means that you can then adjust (twist) the knobs to set headings, altitudes, vertical speed, etc.

Old thread - but I thought I'd bump it.

The trick is to remember which way to push/pull the A/P knobs. Basically, if you want to take over control in any manual sort of way, the pull the knob back out - towards YOU. Anything you want to set back to the aircraft a/p, then push it forward - towards the AIRCRAFT. That's the easiest way I found to remember it.

If you select the "English UK" (or whatever it's called) PO/FO sound set, then you'll get the glorious voices of two NZFF members doing the callouts (BobL and myself). As to which respective seats we were in, I forget! Note: Must fire up that Airbus again ... I think I've done the Texan to death now LOL!
