Nothing comes near that very distinctive sound of those four RR Dart Argosy engines under full power as climbing out from an airport.
Other great sounds are the F27 and the changing pitch in the sound of the Hawker Siddley 748 and Andovers as they wind up to full power.

The 787 is suppose to have quite big windows but it wont be as big as a Viscounts.Last edited by Naki on Tue Jun 01, 2010 10:01 am, edited 1 time in total.

I can't understand children flying and travelling on coaches etc playing hand held computer games instead of opening their eyes and looking around
Because in the land of the long white cloud, what is there to see but fluffy white?

Lucky one!
I had my first flight at age 10 in a BEA 1-11 (from Berlin to Hannover, back in 1976).

Garry, in a past life i drove tour coaches for a few seasons, and it never ceased to amaze me....not just kids.....but all sizes. Close the door....and the cutains are pulled!!
I used to wake them up when passing Mt Cook (on a good day) or stop and get out and take a picture for myself.......i was very rarely joined by anybody......only interested in getting to the next duty free shop. In the end i gave up.....chc -zqn direct........oh, you need a toilet stop....to bad....next bog is 400km away
