Hi Peeps,

Happy New Year and all that.

I just got Issue 49 of PC Pilot mag and went to check out the cover CD.

Problem is that I can't view it. Normally CD's inserted in my drive start automatically. This one tries too but doesn't work. I also tried going in manually via Explorer but also no luck - Explorer just hangs.

Other CD's and DVD's are fine. A real pain as there's a repaint tutorial and a topdressing aircraft on it.

Has anybody else had trouble with the Issue 49 CD or have I just struck a dud one?

Explore the disk, right click on the program that should run and make sure its not trying to start through something stupid like media player or windows messenger(believe me the last one has happened to me before!!) then if its not change it to start up through your internet browser or whatever it runs in(i can't remember and i can't find my june disk)

It's a bit hit and miss but I managed to get it going enough once to explore the disk and extract the file that really was of interest to me. I hope this is the only disk of their's I have trouble with, previous ones have been fine.

I have had this problem twice in the last three years. Its something to do with the Australasian publisher of the disk. Just E-mail PC-Pilot and they will send you out another disk, usually takes a week.

Hi, I just had the same trouble with issue 49. Tried all the usual work-arounds to no avail. then a friend suggested updating my DVD writers firmware. This is available on the manufacturers site [in my case Liteon]. Download and apply, no more problems! Hope this works for you.
