We are thinking of a project to build a replica Link Trainer at our aviation museum, Ashburton. We already have a Link in very complete and semi-working condition but it is too fragile to let visitors 'have a go' and we do like to please our visitors, hence this project.
The general idea is to build a replica with movements in yaw, pitch and roll just like the original, it will also have a hood for that instrument flying experience.
How will it work? The pilot will have an instrument panel and will fly a flight simulator program and outputs from the flight sim will control movement of the 'aircraft' in the real world.
I am looking for Link related packages for MS Flight Sim, WWII instrument, night flying including flare path runway, etc etc.
Actually, I am undecided about a scenery display as of course the Link did not have one but I might be convinced especially as it would enable following the WWII navigation beams right to the runway end.
Any comments from experienced sim folks will be greatly appreciated.
