P3D 3.3 and Actives sky next

Postby cowpatz » Sat Jul 16, 2016 6:11 pm

After half a day of absolute frustration and many expletives I have finally got ASN networked via my laptop. Simconnect takes a bit of getting your head around. I had tried to use FSwide (which connects easily) but ASN can't use it.
Surprisingly not one wine bottle was harmed whilst accomplishing this feat.

Glad you sorted it out. I'd be interested to know if it has any impact on performance. I can't imagine it would have much computational costs to impact the sim. Apart from rendering the clouds which seems to bring them to its knees.

Interesting to see some screens added and in specific scenery areas for the real feel B-)

Well at this stage I'm only using ASN. From what I have seen I am not entirely sold on AS2016 and cloud art. I think the dynamic texture injection is a great step forward and raises the simming bar yet again.
I will wait and see what the Rex sky force offering is like before, and if, I commit to one or the other.
At the moment I think ASN is fine for me.

I'm still running default sky, I do need to re-install REX then use Active Sky, at the moment it suits my FSX , I did see P3D in the Pacific Simulations 737 and I was impressed, to have the luxury of sitting in the cockpit with a wrap around screen really did give it that extra feel, one thing I did like about the 737 Sim with that sort of setup it did add to the real WOW factor with weather.
