Following this post on our Site I thought it might be a good idea to install the New Zealand Scenery Mesh, which accompanies all the new Australian Scenery mesh on the same page...>>>

http://forums.simviation.com/phpBB3/viewto...21&t=170796

It looked pretty genuine to me, and I thought perhaps some of the NZ folks might find it interesting......or not?.... tongue.gif ...!

I have installed it to just see what it looks like, gave it a try, and it was OK.

But now I'm back to Sunny California again... winkyy.gif ... winkyy.gif ...!

Qs
1. Anyone know what size the mesh is in FTX Global 2010 Mesh
2. Anyone know what size the mesh is in ORBX NZNI (which in my opinion betters the FTX Global 2010 mesh)

I did not even not ORBX produced a global mesh , I look at it this way, the amount of issue regarding incorrect elevations with other peoples scenery world by compare for example Foxpine is FTX is ten feet to high, so many issues in regard to adding these scenery's , apparently they call it a 10 meter mesh or that is how they sell it , one thing I can say with VLC is we never had trench's and molehills, making the VLC the more honest .

Funny , I have been getting a few questions now - two PMs and five emails- that is this morning, is this mesh and who is it from? , I did say these people would be back, they tried to get back into the forum again using bogus names .... all they do is steal others works and put THEIR name to it ... this is now a nearly six/seven year old battle since the twits revealed themselves as .. Ian and Tracey Thatcher or the James Harris .

Would it not be easier to announce that the "Ian Thatcher" is not dead, fact is he went under so many Alias's , the list is huge, fact is had they been expose to the community like I tried to do the rest of the world may have picked up on the grubby and other words.

They have the reputation for being the worst , the people they have tricked in stealing and getting moneys, stealing others work and yet left alone till they conger up another plan or name .

Crikey - talking about a Weekend at Bernies , Idea is expose them more rather put on the shelf again and again and again !

Done a bit of investigating on this Brett Simtropolis mesh and I have been given very reliable info from another source who has tested it and they say it has all the hallmarks of the FSGenisis mesh.
It matches all the minor mistakes and errors that the FSGenisis stuff has.

I did not take much to pick up on it , another email checked the name and started place the dots, the concern is had people stood up five years back rather having posts deleted ... but then saying that the two have repeated their actions again , simply YOU DON"T STEAL PEOPLES WORK ! , payware would really anger , this happens also to freeware , the teams and my work and that causes a right to search them out or have an open forum to expose the Bernies !

Completely agree with no stealing work, but my questions still stand.
In this case, though, the next obvious question is..

3) Is the FS Genesis mesh for NZ better than either the FTX Global 2010 or meshes included with ORBZ NZSI / NZNI?

4) Put another way, what is the absolute best and most accurate mesh covering NZ for P3Dv2.x?

I starting to trend towards ignoring the remainder of the world as far as absolute accuracy is concerned so I can concentrate on making NZ as good as it can be, given that I am flying here IRL (albeit in a M/L).
I still buy other ORBX regions when they come out so I can have a look-see, but I don't bother with other country airports or additional scenery.

Except maybe one day I'll build England up, since that is my country of origin; but NZ first.

Cheers

I'm not too sure, I am always a bit dubious with products like this which don't spell it out -- but I have been burnt before, paying for a 'high resolution' mesh which turned out to be based on the same data as the default FSX...

Nor am I sure that you can really mix'n match meshes -- since they tend to be tied in some way to topo elements, such as water levels, as well as airport elevations, you can get into a mess. So for Orbx NZ, you are really stuck with the mesh which comes with it. Again, I'm not entirely sure, as I haven't looked at it in much detail, but the FTX Global mesh is really designed to fill in areas which their regions don't reach -- hence it makes sense that they are lower resolution that the regions, otherwise they'll kick in when you don't want them to.

I stick with the VLC mesh, which suits me because it 'blends' to default airport elevations, so I don't need to change elevations except in some circumstances. Speaking of some circumstances, the Godzone Subscription Wellington includes its own 5 metre mesh, which hopefully will over-ride anything else out there at the moment, but not a lot of areas have a local mesh like that. This means that changing the base mesh won't upset the airport elevation.

The orbx NZNI mesh is made from a number of sources by master-mesher Holger Sandmann, so its a one of a kind hybrid, cant go into any more detail as that is under NDA etc.., however it is re-sampled at 10m from memory

Robin is correct, you cant mixnmatch really as the highest sampled mesh pops out the top by default regardless of scenery lib position

I make use of this, in running VLC and FS Global 2010. I have VLC Mesh and Topo in my FS9, so when I started using FSX, I got the FSX version. The only problems I have had were caused by the FTX switcher (from my FTX AU) not switching back in everything it had switched out, in this instance the terrain.cfg, which resulted in reefs in the middle of lakes, double shorelines and so on. I won't be buying ORBX scenery or mesh.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

If you seek support for your issue at the Orbx support forums we can resolve that for you, you will need to provide proof of purchase though winkyy.gif

Yes, was aware of the auto-best-mesh selection dealio ... still want to make sure I have the best available, and looks like that might be the case already.
Robin ... looking forward to the next photo-scenery subscription area and the full Wellington (it's still interim, IIRC).
Also waiting waiting waiting and more darn waiting for ORBX to re-release NZNI for Prepar3D v2 as it is the one single area that got me into ORBX in the first place, being my home island! Sooo, frustrating...
I know those boys are busy over there, but sheesh ... everything for me is pretty much on hold until that comes out. Can't be far away surely...
I think we must be due the Vector update soon too...
