Crikey .. A minature Fairey Rotordyne of the 1950s concept ohmy.gif I do like a helicopter but a plane .... just watch for that rotor .... OUCH .. and .. all forgot the propellers laugh.gif

Can't help but feel the X3 is just European (Read: French) attempted one-upmanship on Sikorsky's X2, both in the 250kt class.
I see the development S-97 is underway, mostly military application.

I think someone should have a look at the Rotodyne tip-jet rotor again, what a concept!
Noise and failed seals killed it, modern engines and materials surely would make it work.
Mine would have a coaxial rotor pair to cancel high-speed lift issues on the retreating blade, and a pair of Rolls-Royce BR725's to push it...
