Lol relax mate, I think he'd be rather indifferent to an Octavia... Its these he has an aversion to

As a side note Lawrie, I've found my old white one... still less than 45,000km on it! Gonna see if I can sneak it home without the wife noticing ninja.gif

Are there any rooms available down there where we could set up our computers/laptops for a bit of a simming session- or does anyone have contacts with TG airport officials to get us airside perhaps for some photography opportunity's?

Lets try and get this organized ASAP so we can get the word out in the upcoming newsletter!

Air Intakes above the rear wheels must have been a gimmick? Or the air flowing through would stop the brakes catching fire tongue.gif

Errr no, thats because the engine is back there mate... Radiator and oil cooler are fed through the lefthand intake, and the cabin ventilation fan uses the right

Be warned, they can be pricey! Hence my wedding/reception didnt take place there (even though wifey was working there at the time). Instead we hired a restored movie theater/ballroom with seating for 300 for less than a third of the Classic Flyers rate...

There's a spotting/observation deck at TRG airport, it's out airside but open for public access.
There are those conference type rooms there, but like Alfashark said, they'd probably be pricey (but they might give us a discount r let us use them for free, maybe).
You can get airside if you ask the people there nicely enough - I convinced them to let me airside during the airshow, though that was two people not 10+.

That Trolly, is not a silly idea... I'll see if I can get in contact with any of the old faces from my miss-spent youth down there

Doesn't the new Tauranga Terminal have meeting rooms up stairs?
Maybe we could even hire out the Tauranga Aeroclub hanger? Probably would be quite a bit cheaper.
At this stage it looks like it might be next weekend (5th and 6th) or the weekend after (12th and 13th) according to the poll. This is quite soon cause we want Andrew to be able to come.
I can probably try and organise a sim ride or scenic flight.

i would love to be there, as i used to be in the area every day except the weekend. oh well, such is life, if anyone is in brisbane, give me a yell we can catch up!! sounds like there is going to be one hell of a good time, and trolley in an empty hanger, that could be dangerous tongue.gif
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

I'm for the 13th July - next weekend is too soon. Surely we could get the Classic Flyers Museum room upstairs for a reasonable rate???

Ok Guys,

What is happening? Are we going to finish organising it?
The 12/13th looks the best timing. What preference does everyone have?
Shall I go ahead and try and organise the 737 sim or scenic flight?
Has a venue been finalised?
If it was the 13th I'm can't make it until 12pm(even though I will be on the airfield)

This poll says the 12/13th or 19/20th, with Andrew/Trolly mentioning he'd prefer not to have it on the 19/20th.
Either is good for me and it would be great to get this organised and have a meet up.

Is the 13th ok - I really should of thought about this more when I broached the subject as its schools holidays and I am busy with kids etc but anyway the 13th at Classic Flyers at what time - suggestions anyone? 10am? I haven't contacted the Classic Flyers Museum but surely they will let us use the board room upstairs if there are a few fare paying people going through their door? I will contact them tomorrow and post a response in this thread tomorrow.

Anyone have close contact with the sim guys next door?

Hiya

I'm not sure if Grayson Ottaway is still involved with the 737 Sim, but if he is, Grayson is a Vatsim NZ flyer. Last time I spoke to him he offered a spin on the sim ... but that's going back at least a year now and I haven't been Vatsimming for at least that long so I wouldn't be in any position to call favours sorry.

I'd be interested in meeting up for a shake hands, grab a beer and talk shite time rather than a "we're simmers and rule the earth" type of meeting. That sounds real snobby but I think you'll get what I'm saying smile.gif

I did talk simming with Lawrie the other day at his work though so I may be a bit hypocritical, maybe this will give me back some enthusiasm lol. You'll also have to pop your head in my office sometime too, Paul... I've relocated down the corridor by the door that leads out to the covered carpark now. In with the Motor Guys keeping them honest winkyy.gif

Yeah yeah hear what you say - thats how I want it - but it would be great if somebody could bring their PC or laptop along. Not too sure if the family would be too pleased if I dragged my PC out of the house.

Popped my head into your office a couple of times sometime ago but you werent there - havent been up for a while - hopefully we will catch up at Classic Flyers.

Paul

I know a few of the sim guys. Shall I try?
If it is the 13th I can only make it from 12pm onwards dry.gif .
We could have lunch at the classic flyers. Good food. The Museam is great for those who haven't been through.
If anyone needs accomodation, we have an appartment right up at the end of the mount (beach end) we can lease out. PM if you're interested.
