A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

I agree totally about the MD530. I thought about using it for my sim pit But hearing about the issues people are having has put me off. It's hard to justify buying a product that requires updates, things that should have been sorted before the product was released.

Not a case of not listening but more a case of running into snags in the way FSX handles helos that weren't quite expected. It will take some time to overcome them.

But I keep coming back to Dodosim's Bell 206. It works well, it handles more or less like the real thing, it starts correctly, it looks good and sounds good. It's six? years old.

I'm waiting for the first sp to be released and then I'll decide. It's hard for me as it is my favorite machine. It's the start that really gets me.

Yeah its my fav machine as well. I was lucky to get a pilot and co pilots collective from a real md500. I can hook up the throttle and starter via my control board. When I saw on the milviz web site that the aircraft was going to have "Realistic startup and shutdowns" that was the big draw card and would have made the sim even better.
I will keep an eye out to see if the sp makes any real difference before I part cash

Even vigorous Beta testing cannot always assure that bugs dont get through. I was involved in Beta testing the iFly 747 and it is amazing how many bugs appeared after compiling the final code. Fixing one thing often breaks another. What makes a good developer is one that responds quickly and offers good support. You would be amazed at what some simmers find and complain about. One guy said that the style and number of screws holding the standby altimeter in place was incorrect. He was actually wrong as I took the photos of the panel that has been used. There are Boeing options for the type of stdby alt just not on this model. At some point the devs have to say enough is enough and the man hours used to upgrade are simply no longer justfiable. The iFly 737 is a case in point.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

I see that on the DCS forums a lot. Many complaints about tiny things that really don't matter so much in the long run or, like you say, are just a variance not to their liking.
