What's wrong with the article? I guess that's not a F16?

It's impossible to know!

Either it's an F-16 with the wrong pic ... or the article text is wrong - and the aircraft scrambled were F-15's. I mean - what's the point of putting up an article with so little information - and then get the most important part wrong?

My feeling is that they employ neither journos nor editors. Some [unpaid] 12yr old on study leave simply scans the syndicated articles, cuts and pastes bits that appeal then Googles a pic (any pic will do). Honestly - chimps with typewriters could do better than that.

Yes, that is true. I just had my first look and BOOM an F-16. Yes, it is not in the foreground, but it is there.

I have been lurking this thread waiting for someone to wake up... and understand that the pic in question would definitely have had an f-16 archive tag (plus of course f-15)
Some of the problem is with the unforgiving readership!
It's a disturbing trend, I notice it more and more in forums too: people will blather on as if the aforegoing 20 posts weren't there!
Perhaps a product of our being served too rich a diet of multimedia news I suspect - information overload.
Although I do agree about a lot of the reporting, so my early morning news is taken here

Unforgiving readership???? winkyy.gif Well ... excuse me ... that's how it *should be*.

"The North American Aerospace Defence Command said it scrambled two F-16 fighters" - still makes that pic (where the background F-16 is almost totally hidden/unrecognisable) inappropriate. I mean - how hard can it be to find a pic of an F-16?? But my *main* point still stands. We don't know whether the pic is wrong or the editorial.

This may sound trivial (with this article), but there was an item a few months back, titled "Plane crash in Waikato" (or something similar) that actually showed a *Jumbo jet* (until I pointed it out to them) when it only involved a light aircraft. My first reaction was "Oh my God - hundreds dead". Words fail me ...

Adam you'll get over it, one day.
When I shout at the stupid TV reporting the family loves reminding me that it can't actually hear me!
Most specialised reporting drives experts mad, and often it's not just the cubs that put their foot in it.
I have a doctor mate who loves quoting this at his lawyer mate, I think from The Law Society Proceedings:
She stated that she had been constipated for most of her life until 1989 when she got a divorce.

Arr the Herald , Rupert and his boys never got their hands in with the phone tapping maybe they should try photo reconnition tongue.gif

I do like the Heralds report yonks back about a near miss at St Marteen airport with an aircraft and road traffic ... that would take the prize for stupidity in reporting .... , This paper 'The Herald' must be an Australian newspaper ?

Yeah!
"News" ain't what it used to be, now everyone has access to "News", faster than any "News" paper.
So when you go to Stuff, it is for Entertainment!
And you have to multi-source if you doubt any of the content, it's the way of the 21st century.
The "unforgiving readership" I spoke of, belongs in a previous century, where Reuters pap was slightly massaged and fed to you by some editor person.
Now you have to get pro-active with your news!
And selective, too.

The Stuff Trivia Quiz tests whether you have been paying attention: Which breed of dog is Queen Elizabth particularly fond of? (More than 10/15? you are cheating)
Most popular? Is the other woman always to blame?
(If you don't buy the Stuff version of this thought, Google delivers About 41,100,000 results (0.24 seconds))
No? Stuff Headlines, then: Cruise passenger's cocaine wet suit secret
You can even have Editor's Choice if you must: Black Caps gutted as wheels fall off chase

And it updates, too.
So stop whingeing! You have only yourself to blame if the news irritates you! tongue.gif

Here's another one!!!!

What's this picture got to do with the story??????

@Charl - I totally disagree with your post winkyy.gif ... it's not to do with *how/where* we get our news ... it's how it's *created* in the first place - ie. No *investigative* journalism - or writing of such poor quality that it's ambiguous or erroneous.
