Hey all thought i'd finally get my "A into G" and post a reply on this topic.
My name is Jason (Jase) and i live in Dunedin. I work at Dunedin Intl Airport have my PPL and when i'm not working i'm doing my CPL at Mainlandair on a part time basis....guess i could describe myself as a bit of a planegeek( :P ), love all forms of aviation.
Whilst I have FSX and have a fairly decent computer i find FS9 fulfills my FS needs so don't think i'll potter around with X too much until i decide to invest in a new PC which in the meantime isn't a huge priority....

Thats about all for now folks B)

Gidday,

Posting my hellos!

My names Cactus ( Josh lol ) I'm what you could call a real newbie in the world of Flight Sims, most of my gaming life has revolved around online FPS. I help run a gaming Clan called SilentDeath , our clan started from a group of good friends who wanted to create a solid fun gaming Environment. From there we have grown so fast, we now have over 100 members!! Most of the clan is based around Black Hawk Down ( BHD ) but we have a very strong presence in both BF2 and BF2142, aswell as COD2..we also have a big group of members from the console world of Xbox360 ( We also have an idea to start a new branch of PS3 addicts!! ) .

My first taste of flying was playing IL2 with our clan, was great fun, we would spend hours Dog Fighting and generally having just pure fun. I had the itch, so I searched for flight sim's, and that's when I came across.....the link.......the link to FSX

After playing the demo of FSX, ( well barely playing lol, more stumbling thru ) I was hooked, I went out and got my copy, installed, then realised, I have no idea how to fly So began the journey of Flightsim fourms, thats how I found you guys, a rock solid forum , of onto it kiwis that could point me in the right direction!!!

So far I have manged to teach my self to Fly and Land most Jets ( 737,747,777 ) without to much of a disaster, most of my flights include a solid takeoff, then I press/flick every single button/switch I can find in order to find out what it does, 90% of the time I land safely, the rest.....well yeh I wont go into much detail on that lmao.

Anywho, thats a quick intro to me, I do hope that at some point I can give something back to this community , other than that I plan to leech off your knowledge and experience in order in increase my Flying adventure!!

Check out our forum, www.silentdeath.net.nz

Cheers

Cactus.

Howdy Josh..my one piece of advice would be to start out small-land the Cessna 172 nicely before you move on to something bigger.

And welcome B)

First of all, Hi!

Some of you may (or may not) know me from the IVAO Network. For those that don't, my name is Matt, and I am from NZDN (I see I am not the only one!)

Anyway, I have been an X-Plane user for a little over two years, but in the last week have finally been persuaded to convert to FS9. I also own FSX, but my computer is to crappy to even run it on the most basic settings

You'll probably find me on NZAA_APP or YSSY_APP, which is where I'm heading now

I've been encouraged to crawl out from under my stone and smell the flowers.

Brit, living in Long Island, Noo Yoik, USA, having married 'over the pond'. Claim to entry here is my love of NZ, having spent some time there in the real world, and my admiration of the quality of the FS work turned out by names in this forum.... James, Jon, Ian, to name but a few. I have most of the freeware stuff for NZ, just can't afford all the payware!

I've mucked about with FS since FS4, I think, but really only got into it when I bought FS2000 and discovered the Internet. Download heaven. In some sort of effort to pay back the community for 365 Christmases a year, I have tried to do a bit myself. I can't design planes for toffee - well, never tried, there are only so many hours in the day - but have mucked about with panels, paints, and packages. I have a particular affinity for the DC-3: see my DC-3 pages, which need updating but give you an idea of the amount of paint I've splashed about in the past. My other keen interests - and sites, linked - are the British RAF's Red Arrows, for which I put together work with Finnish legends Mikko Maliniemi and Kari Virtanen, and which work is on the Red's official web site; and an airline known to some of you, Cathay Pacific Airways of Hong Kong. My Cathay pages showcase everybody's CX work for FS, not just my own.

I painted up the NAC bird for FS2002, but am most interested in latest developments in this forum with the default FSX Dak! Here's my oldie, parked up at Milford. I still fly this in FS9, although without props!

I've also painted up a BN-2 Islander for Milford Sound Sightseeing (FS9) which is out there somewhere! Fits so nicely with Peter Lohr's Queenstown... what news of his Milford?

Anyway, that's basically me. A hunt at Avsim, Flightsim or Simviation will drag up more of my idle past. And if you fancy a really good laugh at a wasted life spent in admiration of the amber nectar, bore yourself with this, my bio posted over at DC-3 Airways:

Glad to be admitted to your fine forum, in any case. NZ rocks.

Mark

I asked Mark to do this introduction because anyone else doing so would be exhausted by the end of it.
By now you will have realised who this is, even if you've only had a passing acquaintance with the Red Arrows packs in FS2002.

We are graced with a living legend, and BTW now I think about it that damn soundpack never worked for me, all I got at the smoke button was a garbled Welsh voice asking for a refill.
I'll just scuttle off back to FS2k2 land and download that bit again.
I digress.
Read the bio link above. "I was born at a very early age, in London" will tell you that Spike Milligan figured in this man's life, one way or another.
This a Good Thing.
I could go on a bit here, as if the guy were my best friend.
He doesn't know me from a bar of soap, but, like many people all over the world, I consider him an icon, and deeply respect his work.
Welcome to our forum, Mark.

To answer the question: I've been in touch with Peter lately, and he has lost heart a bit. I have an early Alpha of the scenery which I wheedled out of him, but there's not much going on.
Mmm perhaps the full weight of a Forum leaning over his shoulder might act as encouragement...
Definitely need another spot to park that excellent -MCD repaint on that amazing Marcel Kuhnt Islander. B) Probably has the best engine sound to be found anywhere.
