MSFS 2024 Marketplace now open

Ok, so there's not much in it at the moment, no third party addons at all, but these will come very soon, I imagine.
It does have the individual aircraft from the Deluxe and Premium versions for sale, though. I just grabbed the SR22. There are three price points on these aircraft, NZ$12.40, $18.50 and $25.80, which may just be the Premium aircraft. I paid $18.50 for the SR22.
The Globemaster is $25.80, which seems good value.

By the way, my MS account balance was $25.00 from Microsoft Rewards, so this cost me nothing except a lot of clicking on stuff, and my pride.

Happy shopping, Toprob!!

Cannot wait to see your next screenshot results showcasing your new purchases

BTW, do not worry about your pride that is still INTACT because NOBODY not even Microsoft can beat you in airport sceneries and ground texture sceneries. Heck your FSX ground textures can beat MS2020 and MS2024.

Subject: Will MSFS 2020 Marketplace aircraft carry over to MSFS 2024?

Hi all,

Sorry to revive this older thread, but the question feels more relevant than ever now that MSFS 2024 is just around the corner – at least for me.

I'm still flying in MSFS 2020 and have been eyeing a few aircraft in the Marketplace.
But before I buy anything, I’d really like to know:

Will Marketplace purchases made in MSFS 2020 carry over to MSFS 2024?
Are there any official statements from Microsoft or developers about free upgrades, compatibility, or transfer of ownership for aircraft bought from the Microsoft Marketplace?

When you buy from SimMarket or Just Flight, you often get the MSFS 2024 version included – or at least a discount.
But if Marketplace content from 2020 doesn't transfer or gets no upgrade path, I’d rather stop spending there altogether.

Would appreciate any confirmed info or your personal experience.

Thanks in advance,
Andreas

They do carry over, provided you're using the same Microsoft or Steam account for FS2024 as you used for FS2020. Like with previous flight simulator sequels, if the addon was intended originally for FS2020 there might be some compatibility issues, but most seem to work ok with no tweaking required.

You getting any of your stuff in there, Rob, or are you still 'out'?
Been away for sme while, but getting a new PC with heli controls and hopefully VR and will move to a fresh install of MSFS 2024 when I get it all together. I need to work out what I have that will still work, and what needs to get dropped.

I've got one chance at this, and I'm going mid-high with these specs on a custom build by PBTech:

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Gigabyte Radeon RX 7900 XTX Gaming OC 24GB, Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WiFi6E ATX (Socket AM5), Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 Core II ARGB AIO, G.SKILL Ripjaws M5 Neo RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-6000MHz CL30, Samsung 990 Pro 1TB NVMe Gen4 (C:), Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2 NVMe (D:), Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SATA SSD (E:), WD Surveillance Purple 3TB 3.5" Internal HDD SATA3 256MB Cache (F:), Corsair RM1000x 1000W ATX 3.1 Power Supply, Cooler Master MasterBox MB600L V2 ATX Mid Tower, Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OEM, Samsung Odyssey G5 32" QHD 165Hz (2560x1440) Curved

...having said that, the case is not available and nor is the graphics card. I'm not fussed about the case much, but the graphics card they came back with was a lower model; still good, but not what I was after, so we haven't yet 'agreed' that one final component. I'm trying to find out when the XTX is likely to come back into stock since I'm in no hurry.

In good news though, my Pro Flight controls arrived yesterday and I didn't appear to have to pay import\customs ... though of course they could yet send me an invoice! But at least I have them :)

Jpreouu,

Everything in the configuration of your planned new computer is VERY IMPRESSIVE.

I understand WD Surveillance Purple 3TB 3.5" Internal HDD for non flight simming needs such as business applications, image editing softwares, your business job, etc. but if you want MS2024 or MS2020, I am afraid you would need more TB storage in SSD drive than the planned Samsung 990 Pro 1TB NVMe Gen4 and Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2 NVMe.

It is jut me but anybody will probably say I am wrong but I do not think so. I think you should go for single Samsung 4 to 8 TB SSD drive for flight simming along with WD 3 TB hard disk drive.

Quick question: is the WD 3 TB hard disk drive 7,200 rpm or 10,000 rpm??

EDIT: oppsss i forgot to thank you for your answer and for taking time from your busy schedule to write down very long and well detailed configuration of your planned new pc.

Those are nice specs Jeff and should run 2020 and 2024 fine (especially 2024 as most of the stuff is streamed). I use a freeware program called Add On Linker which allows me to put add ons basically anywhere in folders, and via the GUI I select what I want to load into the community folder. This can also speed up loading times. It's basically using flexible symbolic links.
As an example I have some add ons in my C drive that I link into my community folder in MS2020 which is on a different dedicated drive just for MS2020.
I have folders for Aircraft, Liveries, Scenery and Utilities. You can add as many as you like as well as subfolders.

Is 2024 more 'disk-hungry' than 2020? I've had 2020 on a 1TB drive for a long time and still have 400GB free. I do tend to focus only on NZ and almost never download 'global' scenery. I have a relatively small footprint.

Actually not sure on the spin speed of the SATA, and really isn't a factor; it is simply an 'archive' disk.

Cheers
Jeff

Cheers, I'll check that out. As mentioned (I think), the challenge is that graphics card availability, or a suitable replacement; I haven't heard back from PB Tech yet.
I've got 'one crack' at getting a PC this good, so I'm trying to make the most of it! It's unlikely I'll get another chance for another 8 years (which is how old my current one is).
I am really looking forward to exactly how good some of these games can look though.
I'm also looking forward to hiring some VR headsets to see how much better they have become since last time (I hired the Vive Pro, but wasn't impressed enough to purchase).

I don't run 2024 yet (waiting for final release version. From my reading scenery and aircraft are mostly streamed, so that would imply less hard drive space than 2020. Recently there has been an option to download aircraft etc to your hard drive and it seems to be around 400 GB. 2024 seems quite taxing on the GPU and from what I have seen, that which runs in ULTRA with 2020 needs to be dialed back to high or medium for 2024.

Personally, I'd hang out for that GPU you really want. 8 years is a long time to repetitively chant ".....if only I'd..".

...exactly!! And especially since the lower card they suggested as replacement is no cheaper!! Probably just trying to get rid of it :D

That is great question. I heard that MS2024 would be less SDD disk hungry than MS2020 because everybody says that MS2024 would be using streaming a lot MORE than MS2020 does therefore MS2024 would be less disk hungry. That is what everybody says.

I would go for single 4 or 5 or 6 TB SDD drive because the thumb rule of computer purchase is always buy computer for future, not for present or for past or otherwise you will find the new computer outdated before it arrives at your home. I would feel more comfortable with 4 or 5 TB single SSD drive because what if you want to buy more aircraft add-ons??? What if you decide to expand your small footprint to Australia and Pacific island countries to stimulate Air New Zealand's present and past routes??? Always prepare for your future computing needs when it come to computer shopping. For example, your decision to use 64GB ram is GREAT way to prepare for future computing needs. I hear people in this thread telling you that you are using BOTH MS2020 and MS024 which can require more SSD drive space.

jpreou wrote:Actually not sure on the spin speed of the SATA, and really isn't a factor; it is simply an 'archive' disk.

You certainly do NOT want to buy hard drive disk with 5,400 rpm by mistake. Make sure the normal hard disk drive is 7,200 rpm or 10,000 rpm.

3 TB hard drive is great NOT ONLY for archive tasks BUT ALSO for non flight simming applications such as Microsoft Office, Photoshop, image editing softwares, normal applications, and business applications.

I was originally going to spec 128GB, but scaled it back after reading a lot of game reviews indicating that the current games just didn't benefit. I did make sure I had spare slots to make the upgrade later though.

RE: 5400rpm ... even for an archive disk, that is a good point and I had somewhat assumed disks these days were just no longer running at those speeds and 7200rpm was the 'new normal' ... didn't even think about that, so thanks, I'll check that out! :)

RE: the SSD - again, I just figured 1TB for flight sim, 1TB for other games, but spec'd 2TB NVMe for flight sim and 1TB for 'other games' (not many). If I find I need more than that, which I think unlikely as I am not a huge gamer and usually have only one or two installed at a time, then I would slot in another, or swap one out for a bigger. Right now and for the next several years I think what is spec's is more than sufficient based on my 8 year history with this machine and what I typically use it for.

Cheers

Hi Jeff,

I have a 1 TB drive for OS, and MS Office. That's my C: drive.
A 4Gb HDD for miscellaneous stuff (e.g. downloads, Goggle Drive and OneDrive syncs) and my IOT stuff.
A 2TB NvME for Flightsim (both 2020 and 2024), and Steam Games.

My RAM is 32GB. Was originally 16GB, and the upgrade to 32 was massive improvement. Probably, not upgrading to 64GB on this PC. I will on next purchase (which is years away).

I have found the last few versions of 2024, have really improved performance. FPS has gone from 40-50 fps to 90-100 fps. This is on an RTX3060 so I'm happy. Was thinking of upgrading the GPU, but with those frame rates, I'll wait until performance really suffers.

For MSFS 2020, I have not downloaded all of the Scenery updates. South America does not interest me. So I have mainly NZ, Australia, Europe and North America.

Going forward with 2024, I'm happy with the current streaming. My current start-up time for 2024 is about two minutes, compared to 5-10 minutes for 2020. So, pretty happy with 2024.

Cheers, Dave
