R22 Shell

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows of an R22 Shell lying around or even a decommissioned R22 or R44
lying around so to speak anywhere?

Any help would be appreciated

Hey yea thanks had a look tempting but still leaning towards R22, hughes 500 would be another fun one but one at a time haha

There is a place in the USA , they do sell aircraft parts or helicopter fuselages from the old boneyards but it would cost you the earth to get it brought in ... i'm sure they could dig up a R22 or R44 for ya http://www.desert-air.com/simparts/

Thanks for that info. I have made contact with them. Might even just be able to get the panels which would beat building it or buying a pre made one potentially.
We have a contract for shipping so may be able to organize our courier to pickup which could save some $$ I guess well find out.

Obviously not going after a week ? think you will find they only deal with airliners .. you may have more luck emailing helicopter training schools and maintenance shops around the country.

Yea thought about that. Just working on bits around the house over the next couple of weeks getting ready
for summer then ill take another stab at it. Come to think of it the guys in Christchurch who sell hughes have not responded to me either...

I went down that road contacted just about every maintenance and operator for my MD500 project. The ones that replied all said the samething "sorry can't help" and others I got no relpy from. I was Fortunate and got hold of and old Hughes 300 (which was not cheap even as scrap) air frame and that is going to be turned into a MD500e.
MD parts are very expensive and what can be salvaged is like gold with the price to match.

The problem with scrap aircraft components is the risk of people using it again or on-selling as bogus parts, this is especially true of helicopter parts. Hence a lot of places will be reluctant to let stuff go. In fact in some cases (for example time expired rotor blades) it's mandatory to physically cut stuff up so it cannot happen. Also because of the price of spares, anything usable will be held for future use. When I was in the Air Force one of my friends had to witness all the remains of a fuselage from a crashed Iroquois going through a metal shredder at a scrap yard to verify it was destroyed!
