After all that expectation, C.O.D. turned out to be the biggest P.O.S. ever. Even with bugfixes it was a steaming pile .... and came off my system pretty quick.

However - the later DCS products and Falcon4 reincarnations are seriously good - and really can't be put in the same bracket as EF2000 etc. Some combat "sim"s are 100% arcade, but DCS products are very firmly in the "simulation" genre.

Yeah shame about C.O.D. The more I look into the DCS P51 the more i'm tempted. Think I'll get everything i've got going smoothly on my new comp then take the plunge. Oh to have the money to get them all. rolleyes.gif

Hi Ian, I like flying those old birds, especially online for a bit of fun but they are not quite my thing when it comes to building a pit for them. Actually I have not always been a fan of a replica pit as they can be a little restrictive but I have found that the A10 pit is fairly versatile for a number of aircraft so far as general functionality is concerned. With a touchscreen integrated up front you can customise it a bit for different aircraft as well.

I have been building a few things when I have been able, here is an early view of a cdu around 15 seconds in. Just checking for placement on that, obviously it would look a lot better with the final materials smile.gif http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am3TIOBVij4

Also the caution light panel in the photo. the rest of the panels can be run out in a day but I have to wait about 5 weeks due to some other bit and bobs anyway.

You can make a P51 pit just checkout the ED forums I'm sure there is people there that are building P51 pits. You can make a simple home made pit using an old keyboard one of my friends did it and it cost $200. There again another friend bought a projector which cost him $2000US and he said it cost him a BMW for his missus lol.

Those 'missus' really do not help sometimes in the real world of combat simulation .. surely a Fiat Bambina would have done her fine sleep.gif

Kinda fair enough, really. If the lads want some toys, why not the girls? Especially so if wages aren't the same between the two. Let's face it: flight simming is one EXPENSIVE boys-toys hobby... cool.gif

It's more than expensive if for every $2k you spend you have to buy the wife a beamer.

But we all know that the $2k will be spent a few times over once one gets started, and a second-hand beamer once every 10 years would easily equal what was spent on the flight sim, add-ons, subscriptions etc.

Since the latest patch 1.2 the frame rates have improved quite a bit for DCS World.
