THE AIRSHOW CIRCUS

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

With everyone rushing off to the various airshows in the next weeks, might be a good opportunity to get source material for the current crop of Harvards.
Jan Kees Blom (of P-51 fame) has kindly volunteered to help out with repaints, which is good news indeed!

As for the Harvards, sure. I assume the ones in the pic are the ones that have been done? So what is left? If you supply me with images, I can always see what I can do.
Jan Kees

These are done:

Here are some pointers for a repaint photoshoot:
1. Try for a bright overcast day so you don't get sun highlights. Or just wait for a cloud, and make sure you have spot exposure on the A/C.
2. Shoot square side on, from quite a distance; say whatever fills the frame on max optical (not digital) zoom so you don't get distortion.
3. You want to see what's on the side of the A/C so slightly downward for a low wing (if you can stand on something):

and from below for the high-wingers:

If there are special markings, try to get up close to get detail:

Shoot the picture at max camera resolution for archive, usually though 1MB suffices for the repaint template.

Please post your masterpieces in the repaints forum, keeping the hi-res original for reference if needed.

ZK-ENC North American Harvard 3* NZ1091
ZK-END North American Harvard 3* NZ1096
ZK-ENE North American Harvard 3* NZ1066
ZK-ENJ North American Harvard 3* NZ1098
ZK-SGQ North American Harvard 2A* NZ1033
ZK-USM North American Harvard 3* NZ1082

Sorry Charl - not a Harvard in sight (well there was one in the far distant) at the Tauranga Air Show - they were at an airshow in Napier apparently

Mm hope they turn up at Whitianga, may be trickier to get good material at Wanaka, they fly with sun behind mostly.

Hope some of the 'rarely seen' harvards pay a visit, not just the usual suspects.
Charl, missing from your list are the ex RNZAF in aussie
NZ1007

NZ1024

NZ1060 (as NZ 934)

and as look through Airliners.net came up with these

'82/USM has already been done, and I remember seeing 07/HAR as well at some point, although I don't have it myself.

ENB, ENC and VH-PEM should be fairly easy to do by modifying the 65/ENF paint already available. Incidentally, NZ1014/VH-TOA also wears a variation on that scheme.

In no time at all we'll be able to do tweleve ship flypasts. WOO!!!

Was that an ALPHASIM repaint, haven't seen it anywhere?
If so, do you have a source link?

USM or VH-HAR? The HAR repaint I saw attached to the 52/MJN pics from a few months back. Yes, Alpha, sorry!

SIlly me too - it's sitting on my HDD, I just didn't make the ZK- connection with USM
As to the others, I think I painted them, also on AVSIM somewhere, search "Charl"
They are perhaps a little hastily done, but it got some Kiwi Harvards in the air at the time...
