Flight Experience Queenstown

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby happytraveller » Sun Jan 13, 2008 5:01 pm

Just been over to Queenstown and noticed that the Flight Experience office there has closed down. There is a notice in the window offering refunds for vouchers that people had bought. I wonder if it was doing very badly, or if the rents were just too high there, but it appears to be gone now.

Smooth landings.

Oh for real???

That sucks dude! i was just in there doing a flight a few months ago to, Well i used to live in Q-town and it would most prob be the rent and the lack of interest, where they were located wasnt the best place to be but i guess it worked for a while, and being a local most of them scrape by on the bones of their ass's (lack of $$$) and it really is aimed at the tourists,
Sad to see them go... :( and all the best to my Instructer (Rob) who copilot'd me throught to Auckland.

I'm going with the poor location theory. Why get a business going where there is no carparking, outside of the main foot traffic area, no visibility unless you're standing right across the road from them and at about the worst intersection in Q'town. And yeah rent is a shocker - I bailed out of QT last year for Cromwell and reduced my overheads by 60% while increasing floorspace but 100%.

During peak times it was pretty quiet in there.

Unless the FE guys let Alister answer we'll never really know and I'd understand them not saying but of course speculation is much more fun!

Thats the same with the one at Botany, tucked right around the back of the mall by the spare car park for the pub- I've got no idea how much customers they receive though.

Here we go:

The Queenstown business has been purchased by a new owner who has decided to relocate it to Sydney where there is a very high demand for our product. For those of you with outstanding vouchers you can find more details here http://www.flightexperience.co.nz/queenstown-simulator.html "

We are sorry but our Queenstown simulator is no longer in operation.

The Queenstown simulator is on it's way to Sydney to help support the exceptional demand in Australia.

Our closest simulator to Queenstown is Christchurch. If you have a voucher this will be fully refunded

please email us your voucher number and contact details. Alternatively you may choose to redeem the voucher

at any other store in New Zealand "“ please email us.

Kind regards

The Flight Experienceâ„¢ team

Reads more like the Frachise owner in queenstown has moved to sydney because its more profitable than queenstown.
