Don't worry KBG, the guys were just having a bit of a laugh- us 'FS9 Only' simmers are a bit cynical towards FSX as a joke due to the fact that the scenery for FS9 really is much more impressive than what comes default with the supposed 'latest and greatest' offering from Microsoft winkyy.gif

Only because people making the addons are not making them FSX-compatible. And you are then comparing addon with default, which is completely unfair.

For that matter, people also moaned about FS9 being a slideshow in its first year.

Mind you, this is with the mesh/topo/landclass addons from www.redbarent.com, when FS9 first came out it looked dreadful too.

Yeah you are right but if MS had put more effort in to getting it right in the first place then the guys like myself that design for it wouldnt feel so hard done by ,sp1 sp2 sp3 what next wheres the dx10 wheres all the beauty they said it would be,,
the designers couldnt do bugger all in the first couple of months because the tools wouldnt work,
all the stuff they have put in to it are just addons from fs9 really with little tweaks , would have been nice to think the thousands dollars of addons that ppls brought would work without extra work and money charged by designers again ,,like harden surfaces would work, but they dont so there goes half of the rotorheads and all there work ,fences from fs9 are black in fsx in most cases all that work that we have all put in has to be done over and over for a platform that is falling apart at the seems ,,youd be pretty pissed at there effort if you had done 3 years worth of work and had to re do it all again ,,fsx is more of a younger looking game to me not really the simulator i hope for ...
man look at the state of m/p and trying to change your a/c while flying with your mates ha what a joke the list goes on and for $120 when i payed for it was a big rip off
now in saying all this i will move on to fsx one day but to hell with it for now and this year and the next ...my old copy of fsx is sitting on someone elses shelf gathering dust ...

LOL, I'll slag off FSX as much as the next man -- unfinished, buggy, too much broken for too little gain (the reason they cited for not implementing sloping runways was that it would break too much stuff! Well that's a laff; so much is broken already, in for a penny; in for a pound, I say!) You only have to compare my pics of the Iguazu falls with Towerguy's to see how broken ground textures are... Then they waste their time poncing about with animals in Africa... rolleyes.gif Missions? Okay, I'll admit they're fun, but still ultimately a gimmick.

However, I believe there's enough good stuff in it to make it worth using. The high res photo scenery (FS9 5m photos just look crude and fuzzy in comparison) being the main one imho. Plus people are now doing stuff with water and translucency effects that are simply stunning. My only real gripe is the apparent unwillingness of devs to produce stuff for it (yes I understand the wasted effort beef -- I'm building my local airfield in the UK, so I know how much work goes into it!)

yeah yeah scon 54321"thats real clever" i get it but if it wasent for people like myself and many others that do everything for free and not just paint other peoples stuff up you would have default nothing still ,we spend hundreds of hours learning cr@p that we have to learn over and over for what so you can give us s**t ,it hasent even been a year yet ...

so you must run vista "or is it xp stilll? same thing there, autodesk 3dmax doesnt even work with vista so all the stuff from designers is still coming from us poor old XP guys
3dmax isnt that what fsx needs laugh.gif

Yes i like the water and textures from fsx ,but at the end of the day its about flying and simming our way around a half good flp sim with things that works ,
now i was getting 20 solid -60 without sp1 installed on my old puter no problem ..so its not that that turns me off it ...
Its all the people that cant fly around it because there pc,s are like a year old , AI kills the sim ,and none of my payware work right or the same and im not going to give money out for a bloody updated scenery/aircraft that ive already payed for ??
some people man ,you wonder why people give up making stuff for you guys ..
sloping runways well i can do that in fs2004 and yes id rather that to elephants walking over plains of nowhere land.. sad.gif

So what about all those people dude that have broken there spare time to give you the free stuff ?? "that is lost forever and we all gotta start again buiding new citys airports etc.. just stepping backwards and giving payware designers more money ,
what a life aye ... laugh all you like it doesnt bother us at all we are laughing harder at you guys and will for a long time yet
i actully feel sorry for you having been sucked in to it all ...millions of dollars wasted for virtual water and some kids missions laugh.gif
anyway man you know how to push me buttons and i know how to push yours so lets leave it at that aye .....
