No wonder I've come to hate long-haul flying

i find on domestic routes that the majority of flight attendants are female- whereas i was surprised to see older male flight attendants on the 747 AKL-BNE and the 777 BNE-AKL

Hi,
thank you for your many answers!

@Charl
Danke sehr, sprichst du Deutsch?

Yes Africa is very nice and we have now founded a special group, the African Airports Scenery Designer Group who designs free airport sceneries of Africa.
More information on our website.

We are momently a small virtual airline, but later, when we are older and bigger, we can fly to NZ, no problem >nzflag<

Ah the good old days!
Job adverts used to read something like:
AIR HOSTESS
Gorgeous single young ladies 5'6" - 5'9" aged 22-26 may apply for this glamorous job.
See the world!
Must be friendly, outgoing, but especially, open-minded.

These days the add reads: Small black man required to be used as aircraft tyre. Must be flexible and willing to travel.

You'd want to connect with Aeroworx, then:

Good luck with your airline, hope to see a virtual Airbus A380 from you!

*** apologies for thread hijack ***

You'll find a lot of this has to do with seniority... Its a big thing in the aviation industry, especially with Pilots and Cabin Crew.

So the most senior (not necessarily the most skillful or best performing) crew would get the promotions etc.

My cousin-in-law is a trolly dolly for Cathay and she is finding out the hard way... she's v. good at her job (and doesnt look half bad just quietly :D ), but they recently changed the retirement age so the people above her can keep working, so there are no senior vacancies for her to move into and she cannot get a promotion until they are all gone and she is next in line

reading some of the stuff on pprune, and talking to my wife (HR for an airline) about it, its starting to phase out within the industry as people wake up to the fact that you should actually be somewhat good at your job to deserve promotion, and as the newer 'upstart' airlines like Virgin Blue, Jetstar etc start coming into play with different hiring/promotion policies. Its causing a big stink and people dont like it, but I dont know too many other jobs where you got a promotion just for being there the longest!

As for the no males on the LAN flights... you'll probably find that they still get to discriminate all they want based on looks and gender... not that i'm complaining B)

We want to show our pilots how wonderful Africa is.

We have some South African friends and I have seen many beautiful photos of "The Cape" and Table Mountain, which look real nice in FS2004 with the VOZ Northern Textures.

You have a neat VA website too- how did you make it?

Also, may I ask how you found our NZFF website from so far away in another continent Springbok?
