What is a "flight simmer"

Hi

I'v been woundering what a real "flight simmer" is.
Like its not that yourve got the game intalled on your pc and sudenly you are.
It realy annoys me when other kids say they "play" flightsim and then when I ask more they tell me that crashing into the buildings is why they play it

Like im prety sure im definatly a "simmer" but then how do you know if your a "hard core flight simmer" or hard out or just realy realy obsesive (Hmm I hope im not the latter)

You're a simmer, you're repainting an aircraft. What sane person would do that ?
If you love your aircraft rather then seeing them as just a way to have fun. If you perform flights for satisfaction, rather than to see how fast you can go, etc etc etc.

for me its about the thrill of simulating something that is real, being planned flights between airports. the closer you are to real life, the more of a (hardcore) flight simmer you are. plus taking scenic cruises and maybe pushing the envelope in terms of extreme weather pattens and the like is all within the realm of flight sim, but once you leave realistic situations then you're not a flight simmer.

i mean, sure we've all crashed the cessna to see how many pieces it breaks into, or seeing to what altitiude we can slew to, but if that's the only way you can get enjoyment out of MSFS then you're defeating the true point of flight simming- mimicing reality.

Another sign of being a "flight simmer" is if you can find your fs9.cfg file lol
A simple thing but theres many that wouldn't have a clue

First you have to have hidden folders visible.

Go to "My Computer"
then "Local Disk" (C: for me)
"Documents and Settings"
"Your User Name" (ie the profile that you log into windows with)
"Application Data"
"Microsoft"
"FS9"

You should see a .cfg file in there labeled FS9.

For me simming is about having fun doing stuff you wouldn't get away with in real life. Simming involves flying with a group of friends to destroy enemy aircraft, buildings or vehicles etc. It also involves dogfighting other pilots and alot of study as knowledge gives you an edge against other pilots. As for crashes, I've had a few both online and offline heres a few examples.
