Multipe Monitor setup help that won't !

I want to hook up two maybe three monitors to my computer:

Computer is AMD 3400, 1 GIG RAM, 256 Video card.

The video card has one RGB outlet, and one s-video, one composite.

Is there are way that won't break the bank to use the existing card, maybe some little converters you have seen etc.

I also want to try not to losse to much grunt with the extra monitors.

Would love the matrox triple 2 go but out of my price range.

Have looked for RGB to s-video connectors but cannot find any fo sale in NZ.

I have considered a multiple monitor set up in the past, but decided not to go through with it as I guessed it would drain all my 2.4 GHz system's resources.

I borrowed my brothers tv a few weeks ago and hooked it up to the s-video input on my card.
Performance wise it didnt realy affect my frames at all. Unless I tried to have a flight deck view on one display and spot view on the other for example , that cut the fps in half but i found that just undocking subpanes like the gps or overhead and dragging them accros realy had no effect on frames.

If you want to set up multimonitors realy cheaply you could just buy a tv of tradme or somewere and just make shore its got a s-video output, they go for around 50 dollars if your lucky, although I did find with a the television I used that it was difficult to see detail like words etc... I don't no if all tvs would be like this but the res was set at 1024x768.

I have had three monitors (19", 17" and 15") connected and didn't notice any performance drop. Initially I had two larger screens connected to my 6600GT AGP card, then intoduced a third using an old S3 Trio 8 meg PCI card that ran a very old 15" monitor. I then was given a PCI 128 meg ATI card and then ran two off that with my main AGP card just running my main 19" monitor. I sold the PCI card and now are back to just two monitors off one card as three was really too much for my needs.

For flight siming I run FS Nav and Squawkbox on the second monitor with the main screen showing FS. For other games the second monitor usually displays Teamspeak. For web browsing, file management and document editing it's handy being able to drag from one monitor to another.

Monitors are cheap, especially older 15" models, and you can get old PCI cards from scrap machines.

I am lost now without a multimonitor setup.

Thanks everyone for the comments, Trolly, glad to see your forum is going so well, seems to me New Zealanders are bit slow using forums, compared to the Aussies, using the VOZ forum as an example.

We had a support forum going for our site but no body used it, in fact I must close it down.

Have just about decided to buy a new 128MB video card with RGB and Dvi outputs so that gives me 2 extra monitors plus my primary monitor.

Just have to jusify buying wideview software now. Does anybody know of any other software similar to WideView?
