About the F-35 The screenshots turned out well — they show the F-35 in all its majestic ugliness. I just can’t warm up to this machine. It’s like someone tried to make a stealth fighter out of a flying brick and then decided to charge three nations for the privilege. Yes, it’s modern, expensive, and full of classified wizardry — but graceful it is not. Even the designers must have winced a little when they saw it in daylight. To me, it’s less “Lightning II” and more “Thundercloud of bureaucracy.” And I’m clearly not alone in thinking it’s one of the most over-engineered mistakes ever to take...

I did convert the Mossie for MSFS at some point, but have since misplaced the file unfortunately. Great fun for (really) low flights Great shot!! I do hope the file turns up, as the Mossie is one of my favourites! The file on flightsim.to only (partially) works for MSFS 2020 - and not at all for 2024. Aeroplane Heaven seem to be working on one, but no idea as to release date.

From the JF support desk: "the UHI Products were removed from sale due to a licensing issue with one of the liveries. The developers are removing or replacing that livery so it can be put back on sale."

That story about the Swiss and the “destroyed 110” reminded me of another episode — the Bf 109 deal in 1944. Switzerland actually received a dozen brand-new Bf 109 G-6s from Germany as compensation for earlier border incidents. “Brand-new,” though, turned out to be rather optimistic. The Swiss engineers found rough panel work, misaligned fittings, and even reused components. They were so disappointed that the aircraft got the nickname “Schüttelbecher” — literally “shaker cup.” After the war, the Swiss government even filed a lawsuit against Messerschmitt AG for poor workmanship. Messerschmitt...

I waxed lyrical the other day , about the amazing freeware EDKB that is a work of utter devotion. Well, Duxford is the grand daddy of freeware MSFS. ChicoMick deserves the undying gratitude of a whole generation of warbird flight simmers for this effort. I go back there time after time and marvel...

o.K., es ’t have no H.S. 748 model, the YS‑11 works surprisingly well. Even though the 748 is slightly smaller, the silhouette is very similar. With the Rolls‑Royce Dart engines mounted like on the YS‑11 and the Mount‑Cook‑Airlines repaint, it creates a very convincing illusion.

Carl, if you’re flying there often, check out the new YS‑11 from Inibuild. With one of the many repaints for the Japanese military or the Coast Guard, it’s perfect for exploring the islands.
