QUOTE (IslandBoy77 @ Jan 17 2013,9:19 AM) That's an interesting note: has anyone tried FSX on W8 yet? I got my first hands-on with W8 this week. I'm not fussed at all. I will probably eventually end up on 8 one day (unless 9 comes out first...), but I agree with a number of people that it feels a lot like a solution hunting for a problem. I know, I know - Microsoft needs to get a unified OS that will work across all the different computing devices: I get that. And while W8 probably will be pretty good on phones & tablets, it doesn't at all look like an OS I will enjoy...

I haven't downloaded the Outerra demo yet to have a lash: just too busy, plus they are still having issues with their graphics driver working with modern AMD HD-series video cards (like mine). But the videos (in hi def) that I've seen posted are excellent (given the Alpha state of Outerra). In fact even in Alpha, the atmospherics & sea boundaries are still quite away ahead of most simulators I've seen (whether they be flight or otherwise). The dusk and dawn of Outerra are particularly good: no stars appearing where they shouldn't and such. Indeed, one of the videos I saw...

They still are a long way off yet , very similar to what was posted this time last year , they still have a lotta work in front them , the old Fly I/II/III said they were leaps and bounds above the rest .. they fizzled out to so it is going to be interesting to see what can be added at later stages .

I've been testing this for some time now, and it works fine with some aircraft (like the Carenado Caravan). However some developers created their add-ons with their own method of "counter-acting" the default FSX ground friction already, so using this altered sim1.dll changes the characteristics of those add-ons in a very unrealistic way...

I have written also a review about the ProTu Tupolew Tu 154B-2 for "FS-Magazin", a germanspeaking Magazine for Flusi-Pilots. Yes, it is not easy to find in into the cockpit of this aircraft. It is hard work, to fly it. It is no wonder, that the original aircraft has a flightdeck for 5... and we make the work from them alone... In my eyes this aircraft fascinated me but... it is not intendet for Flusi-Pilots with limited time. To see, how the systems work, how to fly it under normal conditions you need a lot of time and for procedures if something goes wrong, you need a lot of time...
