the standard advertised approach into NZAA (provided all equipment is functional) is ILS/DME for 23L or 05R. if not on a visual then most aircraft will fly the ILS or the RNAV X (north) Z (straight in) or Y ( from south). after that there is the LLZ/DME or the VOR/DME etc down the scale.

Thanks Greg. I appreciate the offer. You guys are very accomodating. For me, I’m locked into using the Rift as that’s what the family wanted but I’m hoping to get myself setup to enjoy learning to fly (which I can’t afford except in VR) and exploring my favourite backcountry rivers etc. It sounds like I’ve a lot to learn to get everything together. Cheers, Shaun

Thanks for the link. What's the most you've deviated for wx, CP? About 60 nm. If you have the time take a look at the NOVA YouTube link. A very interesting demonstration of super cooled water. Very chilling if you could excuse the pun.

I've had GSX for years so having to purchase the expansion wasn't hard to justify, myself. I use it for every flight. Loading the plane (not used all the time just when I want some eye candy) the pushback feature is really good, and the parking guidance is very handy. Sode jetways everywhere is cool however most of the airports I fly to are addons anyway. I really just want to support FSDT because that product has been receiving free updates and features for 6 years I think I read.

IPACS have implemented Virtual Hands for AFS2. These allow clicking turning and setting everything in the VR cockpit. When they release their R22 I will step back into full Virtual Reality.

NZFG and the RV7 loaded in around 3 mins this evening; followed by an IFR direct GPS to NZNV, missed visual approach (ATC instruction to go around due to some lazy-ass Cessna that couldn't vacate in a timely fashion and just cost me another $40 in avgas, to a second good visual landing.

I'm running a 32" curved Samsung and like it. Bear in mind that wall mounting isn't as straight-forward with Samsung as it should be due to the desk mount bracket not officially being removable. I had to bring the wall mount out on standoffs. As far as curved vs flat; really not sure I'd notice in most situations; wouldn't probably need to go fly a same size flat to see, but when I changed to the curved I went up from 23" at the same time. Would I buy again? Probably, in all honesty, if I could get it on 'special' (which I did, from PB Tech).
