interesting , Thank you for that , must try more manual approaches. Only one I do manually is Queenstown 05 because you have to . on xplane.

Is there any way of entering AAWN1 (or whatever), or have you got to enter the whole chain? Bruce R I think you can set up company routes in the PMDG and possibly some of the Airbus's but not 100% sure

Pretty much... there's just enough in AFS2 to tide you over until the hammer drops on those other upstarts :)

Yes, looking at the videos even the low res aerial imagery (10m) works well as it transitions to procedural ground -- so you go from aerial photos up high to 3D grass and rocks on the ground. However I've had a bit of trouble getting the new alpha working -- it insisted on installing the same update over and over, as it didn't seem to update the registry with the new version number -- so I manually updated the registry, and now it works... The demo is quite basic, but dropping into the Southern Alps, then down to ground level is trippy!

23 is the preferred runway as the 05 STAR and approach goes quite a bit further to the SW. It's good fun on a good visual day and positively scary when your in IMC and the GPS stops working.

Yes I agree but allot of the add-ons I was using including some of the PMDG aircraft and flight one only work with FSX which is a pity. I tried what you said with no luck sadly so back to using a joystick. I have sent you a private message if your free to talk I am trying a installer but have a couple of questions.

Yeah, looked at the PFT Puma stuff before and it is what I have my eye on.... nice! (unless I go paragliding instead of course, which would consume the budget!) :)

Ah, now understand....Your 'poota is using JST, and the sim picks that up. I suggest you use to set up a second clock using UTC, which is what all sim flightplans use, as far as I know. That will make it a lot easier to set your sim to the time period you want to check. UTC=GMT, but London time is not necessarily UTC - they use daylight saving. I have no experience of X-Plane, but I did a lot of AI stuff in FS2004 and FSX - you can still see the bite marks in the ceiling  Have fun Mike

However I have been experimenting still, and it certainly looks to me that reducing my settings to something closer to the 'default' helps a lot. I wonder if this issue isn't that common -- although obviously more than a few -- because most people keep their settings middling? I guess that the one thing that you are I have in common is that we both go for visuals over performance, but maybe we are by far the minority. Hi Rob - you're quite right in that we both tend towards maxing out our systems! However - even my most frame-rate-unfriendly settings have never been a problem in the past....
