QUOTE (Chairman @ Sep 10 2008, 09:53 AM) They're not actually closed, they just don't have any products at the moment and their developers are working on other projects. But they're not closed /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> The development of the fsx B200 was apparently taken over by Flight 1 about a year ago. I didn't spot any mention of this in the Aeroworx forum until yesterday when this post appeared. The facts that Aeroworx have maintained absolute silence about it even when asked how progress was going and that...

Vroute is excellent for general flight planning and is free but if you wish to export the plan to an FMC then you will need the premium version with is a little expensive at 22 Euros or around NZ$45. At this stage it can export to the Flight 1 ATR, Level D 767, 767 PIC and the PMDG 737/747. It will also do fuel calculations. To my mind you would have to use it frequently to justify the outlay. Cheers Steve

Cost can vary the cheapest I've seen is $100 US by a guy who pulled a keyboard apart and rewired the buttons to switches for an F-16 pit and he modeled almost every button and switch in the end he could do a full rampstart with it so it can be done cheaply. For a civ aircraft you can get panels, gauges and dials similar to real aircraft but it does get expensive. The ideal setup would include a yoke/hotas and a projector you should pick a particular aircraft and model it off that.

Thanks for the feedback guys. FJFlyer I've just check the link and Flight1 forum. There's still no mention of their weather engine. FEX is only texture at the moment. I might get ASX anyway. Then I'll have two to play with when FEX finally brings their one out. Cheers guys.

QUOTE (ZK-LGD @ Sep 4 2008, 01:19 PM) Cannot go past the Garmin 530, available from Avsim. Search the Library for: GNS530. And don't forget to download the Manual from the Garmin Homepage. Actually I suspect I can. I've got several lovely payware gps units, and now these astonishingly good free ones, but I still don't have a plane that weighs less than 80 tons in which I can create a flight plan rather than just import one. I know I could get that down to ~13 tons with the ATR, but I was hoping to get it down even further - say to GA level ... If I didn't already...

Thanks for the info guys. I just ordered a TrackIR from VR Concepts after reading a few reviews from here and elsewhere. i always thought they were a bit gimmicky but after what Ive read lately sound pretty useful. Matt at VR Concepts was really helpful too. Reckons he can get it to me in Akld tomorrow as well. I was saving for triple head2go but that would be about 3x the price with the extra monitor Id need to buy NZ255 I notice you have a Palit Radeon HD4850 graphics card. Ive just bought a new system which has a Sapphire Radeon HD4850 card. My previous system was AGP and I had a...

QUOTE (Timmo @ Sep 5 2008, 10:05 AM) This is likely due to the dropping of support for dxt3 (? IIRC) textures after SP2......Make a copy of the texture and then open the offending texture in imagetool (if you have the SDK included with the Deluxe version of FSX). Save it as Dxt5. Do a search for "FSX Sp2 Dxt3" on google if you need more information Thanks Timmo i'll try that at home tonight /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

QUOTE (Phil @ Sep 2 2008, 05:18 PM) Thanks toprob (and Ian again). Binary files can be probmatical but I would never have thought of the removal of one as a fix for this disaster. Loss of a logbok and saved flights is neither here nor there - recovery of FSX is mission critical. I guess my concern now is what caused this to happen in the first place. Hope this is helpful to others as well. Phil Google 'corrupt logbook' and you'll see that this is a very common problem. There are even tools around these days that'll backup your logbook automatically so that you...

Here's some ideas for some events: -Best Three Point Landing -Best handled emergency (Deliberately shut down an engine, a certain distance away from the airport at a ceratin height for each competitor. The person that handled the situation best/the person who survives will win) -Best Aerobics -Quickest climb to a certain altitude (if you stall you're Disqualified) -Most Dangerous flight (you try and make your flight really dangerous and the pilot who keeps his plane from chrasing will win the gold medal)

Well - I read that thread. What a load of useless drivel. I can't believe simmers (usually fairly geeky) can so utterly miss the point. *Nothing* is corrupted unless you happen to open the .air file and resave whilst having the default association set to Acrobat. Adobe .air files may even be text files anyway. As Rob says - people are just seeing a changed icon and panicking. Editing via Notepad (or whatever) is still always possible. Americans are so **paranoid** these days!

Ahh yes - funny I was reading the review on Avsim (as I have the Viking) not knowing you had written the review , until I read your post a few minutes later on NZFF. Bill Ortis is a nice guy as I had a few problems (CTDs) with the Viking (it just dosen't agree with my PC for some reason - even weirder is that it goes in USA but not in NZ some of the time). He was very prompt and helpful and offered to refund my money but I got it at the sale of his so it wasn't a lot $ anyway and I am perservering with it. I dont like the 2d panel much but I dont really care as I am a VC flyer...

Thanks Naki. For my money it comes down to a tossup between the 767 and the 727. The 767 is lovely to hand fly and a computer that will get it from A to B with no intervention apart from having to change vertical speed modes on the descent, but that's no hardship, and it has a copilot who will look after the gear and fight you over flap settings ... The only thing is, it's a bit, well, boring. The 747 is like the 767 only bigger, and with more reliable VNAV, but no copilot so I have to work my own gear and put my own flaps out when it tells me to. The 727 is FUN! It's hard...
