Hi guys, I have been into flight simming since the land was green ( just green ) and the sea was blue, that was back in 95 I think. Today I still have and get a great deal of pleasure cruising into new places on the sim I have built up over the years, but have a slight problem now. I am an Orbx fan and have many of their addons, but all of which are taking a toll on my poor old PC. As I live in Whangarei, I would like to know if there are any other sim fans who could give me some guidence on how to get the best from my setup. I do enjoy my simulator, but get very frustated trying to nut out...

I think the idea is to make it easier showing a description, logic to show weather one has seen it before, but also as we progress, links and general help .. one stop shop.

Does Google Maps provide you with your moving aircraft position on it or just a track line with waypoints on it? Cowpatz, Great question and excellent point. It is the former as I need for my screenshot flight report writings. Simbrief has mapping but it has zoom in limitations meaning I would not get names of cities, rivers, lakes, mountains, highways, bridges, buildings, and so on. GoogleMyMaps using KML files from Simbrief SOLVES the problem Regards, Aharon

Here, the router is set up to serve the home office at the other end of the house, so there's another old router attached to it, which is a lot slower, but is more reliable. So I normally get 11Mbps. The alpha worked great on this, but I'd like it a bit quicker for the release version. I am hoping to improve things a bit, but at least I know it'll work. Yes, you can use a cache just like 2020, and choose what you load there, and you can also download some things locally. At one stage with the alpha, I was zooming the drone around Italy, at a ridiculous speed, and the scenery managed to keep...

Aharon, take a little time to learn how to use ADE and you can do this yourself, it really isnt that difficult or hard to learn and there are lots of tutorials on Youtube Deeknow, I am too scared to screw up FSX LOL I will stick to my simple talent of creating screenshots and let other professionals handle modifications of any airport scenery. Just a few random thoughts on the alpha -- mainly performance. I know we can't gauge the finished product, but what they have done seems miraculous. The sim loads in a couple of minutes, then a couple more to load a flight. I've been zooming the drone around the country, and this is just butter-smooth. I can drop down to any point on the ground and it'll take half a second to resolve everything. Sometimes it gets overwhelmed, and the frame-rate drops, but that's just it's way of telling me to start over. Memory management is much improved, and I don't get that incessant whining from my GPU...

3 or 4 years :lol: :lol: :lol: Well that is the time that MS2020/2024 will have ALL planes that FSX has. For eg, Tridents, BAC1-111s, DC-10s, 707s, 747s, L1011s, 727s, DC-8s, and so on. FSX has all planes that MS2020/2024 do not even have hence me waiting 3 or 4 more years. Regards, Aharon I'm not quite so sure about that Aharon. Yes, you can only sell your soul once, and mine belongs to Microsoft. This goes back to the time they flew me to Sydney, picked me up in a limo and took me to the hotel with a bunch of 'MVPs' -- ordinary folk like me -- and looked after us very well while asking us how to deal with their user base, without being inundated with garbage. I do think that the way that MS handle their flight sim, with Jorg doing his bit from the top down, is a direct result of these talks. So I haven't 'googled' for a long time, although I refuse to say I've 'Binged' today. I still have my old Windows phones,...

Well said, Robin. For some of us who have been privileged to run just about every version of Flight Simulator, the ability to interact with the actual developers is a breath of fresh air. Back in the old days, you just paid your money and got the next version of FS. Look at the number of Sim and World updates that are coming out each year - just amazing. The quality just gets better and better. So are the third party developers. And all of the developers are listening to us. Personally, I have never had a major problem with updating the software. Maybe, it's because I am in the IT industry...

Are you sure they were in the original scenery from Lawrie? e.g. do you have screenshots showing them in the sim? If so then yep would be a missing library maybe, but if not they may never have been in his AFCAD to begin with. You should take a look at ADE and try adding them in yourself using default FS9 buildings, it's not too hard after you've followed some tutorials. see:

Classic Story... and sounds so familiar. We almost got a divorce over trying to buy her a Queen album as present on line as a surprise, I refused to tell her what I was doing... so she assumed the worst!
