Air New Zealand's First Airbus A321-neo
It's quite a bit bigger than the A320 (+40 seats).
I suppose you'll end up waiting 40% longer for everyone to unpack their overhead bins on arrival, too :(
The other night I had the wing seat on an A320D (D for Domestic I subsequently read).
It has a really big "sharklet" on the wingtip.
Despite the extra weight, in part in the strengthened wing, it saves 3% on fuel.
They also seem to have found a new flight profile, engines to virtually idle from TOD all the way in.
Guess they are also feeling it at the pump, like us terrestrials. $2.50 per litre. And Auckland fuel tax. Shheesh.

Charl, depending on the wind, I have them pass over home on the downwind for 02 I think.
About halfway down they make an odd sort of powering down sound, followed by a slight powering up ...I can't recall ever hearing that from the inside.
Do all our A-320's have the same engines?

That sound is probably the landing lights extending. They make quite an unusual whiring noise.
