You can't just do a Google search anymore, it will engage its AI or is that Si?
So for fun I asked: What's the best PC component setup for MSFS 2024?
You saw it here first, these are all sourced in NZ

Wow! Over half of that is the GPU alone!!! The total does sound about right though (ie. way out of my league!).

I suppose you could easily double that, once you add a widescreen curved monitor, fancy throttle/joystick/rudders and VR system.

Probably cheaper to buy a share in a *real* plane

As a matter of interest, I ran this through PBTech:

Code: Select all
RTX5080     $3,199.00
Ryzen7      $  895.85
CPU Cooler  $  271.69
MSI M/B     $  499.00
64Gb RAM    $2,562.00
2Tb RAM     $  861.35
PSU         $  372.06
PC Case     $  113.85
---------------------
            $8,744.80

Bearing in mind that the reason why PBTech is relatively cheap is because they don't always import/stock the very latest versions. Even so, it still adds up to a staggering $2,400 above the top of the range of the prices quoted - which I suspect are US prices simply converted to $NZ.

Well the full AI explanation included this statement:
You can source, price-match, and verify stock for these parts across major local PC component platforms. You can check pricing trends on the PriceSpy NZ Hub or search live inventory directly via PB Tech, Computer Lounge, and ExtremePC.
Because you have roughly $650 to $1,300 left over under your $7,000 ceiling, you have plenty of room to cover local Windows licensing, shipping costs, or premium assembly fees if you prefer to have one of those local retailers build and stress-test the machine for you.
Would you like me to use this remaining budget to recommend premium flight peripherals (like a high-end yoke, stick, or rudder pedals), or would you prefer to redirect the extra cash toward a top-tier 4K or Ultrawide gaming monitor?

I'm not sure if things have changed, but a while back I sourced all the components for a sim PC from PBTech. Back in the day, they actually built the thing for me for free. The advantage was that a) They know what they're doing (!!) and b) they stress test it before pickup.

I think that may be the black box that Splitpin is still enjoying. My current/replacement I just bought a pre-built one "off the shelf", as it were ... but supplied my own GPU.

I've always had a custom build but I start with a basic offering and then add to it.
I guess the price of build was in those components already.
For many years the price stayed unchanged at $4000 for a one-off-bleeding edge computer.
Alas 50% more now, thanks to the data farms as CP mentions.

However, I found this and so I'm exploring Windows 11 features I'd long forgotten about.
Feels like a new PC...
Speech-to-text has certainly come a long way.
Downside being that you tend to ramble on (as I am now) because I'm speaking to the computer!
