I think next primary is the larger screen , other thing is finding out his specific aircraft and doing up a personal paint for Harry ... that would be cool !

Martin, keep us all informed on that, your arrival date, when in or if in Christchurch you know the nudge nudge button if you need a ADF.

This is something my wife and I will do when our son is past school. (3 years to go...). And yes, Ian, I will make sure to let you know in advance and will appreciate the chance for a face to face very much.

Ian, an interesting reply to your offer of a repaint....

"Your friend who has offered to 'repaint' the Liberator in Squadron colours is very kind but I have to say we did not have special squadron colours, just the dull old camouflage of wartime with the the red white and blue rondels and rudder stripes. I actually served with a special duty squadron which operated under extreme secrecy. Each aircraft flew entirely alone, almost all armaments removed in favour of extra fuel tanks. We carried only two gunners, one rear and one midship who served both side guns but as there was only 30 seconds of fire power it did not matter much. Log book entries were all the same for everyone and every operation, 'operation as briefed'. Nothing more and frequently inspected by the OC to ensure no attempt to add more. What we carried and what we did was kept very hush hush. So I am very appreciative of your friend's offer I think many people have been too kind to me already. Please thank him for me. Do tell him I am just an old left over relic trying to recapture a bit of the fun and the frights of younger years"

only 30 seconds of fire power

Bloody hell that was a brave way to fly!
