ohmy.gifBoy ohmy.gif , are we spoiled for choice this Christmas , by Milton Shupe, Tom Falley, Matt Wynn, Scott Thomas, and Sounds by Nigel Richards
Pkg incl 1 models, custom panel and gauges, custom sounds, custom Flight Model, and 1 livery. Thank you very very much you guys

The first screen .. in the cockpit i adjusted it just to show how nice and livable it is , Nice !

I no the Harpoon was redesign from the Ventura with a new larger wing and plan form and more powerful engines .. i'm am going to ask Milton
tho if maybe at a later stage we could have the chin turret removed and that would suit many RNZAF paints . cool.gif

Your going to love this one cool.gif .. a WIP as well , be interesting to see what else is added to it or other possible models .. may step back to the earlier Ventura and earlier glazed nose variant . Santa Milt is pretty good within reason to modifications .

Not forgetting he's just released an upgrade to his seminal Dash7 (FS9 & X) - the man's a Factory.

I had a computer update in the last week, so thought that was why your screens looked so good.
But I think they are rather good, the F111 ones prior also, very nice work.
Oh I keep forgetting ze artiste is also on the masthead this month... been hiding the light under some bushel...

It is a fantastic aeroplane the Harpoon.. not the easiest to fly, but even this WIP has a nice wee surprise... i opened exit 2 by mistake while on the ground to find the bomb bay opening... so on a flypast i made a weapons bay display pass to find a couple or torpedo's in the bay too

hmm its not often used in the lockheed naming rights, most called them ventura's anyway. But of interest, NZ4600 at MOTAT is actually a B-34 with bits from 2 PV-1s used in the restoration...
Another cool piece of trivia on the lockheed patrol bombers is that in early 1945 the RNZAF brought on charge 4 PV-2 Harpoons under lend lease, which were returned to the USN in mid 1945 NZ4701 - NZ4704
The Harpoons were finished in the late war USN 2 tone blue over grey scheme with the Pacific Roundels for all the repainters out there winkyy.gif

Its going to be interesting to see all the variants , not much in the way of photos with the RNZAF Harps or Lex , but using a little artistic licence from the many photo we have here it would very close.

Ian,
I am looking forwards to all the variants as well.. ive always been a sucker for Lockheed twins smile.gif There is one pic i have found of an RNZAF Harpoon, it is black n white, but it shows the scheme off pretty well, with the 2 tone clearly visible, and late war Corsair style roundels

Kiwi , you should post the photo smile.gif , I have a photo of a glazed nose RB-34 close up and at a distance but everything else is Ventura's , nothing on the four Harpoon's .

Ask and ye shall receive... here is a link to the image of the kiwi harpoon, does not mention which airframe it is though
http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/albu...NZAF_NZ47xx.jpg

I did notice when reading on the Ventura-Lexington-Harpoon, that the Lexington had lower hp R2600 motors where the PV-1 had R2800´s and that the R in RB-34 stood for Restricted use not Recon

There is very little detail shown , hey least it gives us something to work with .. still a month before Milton and his crew come out with a full package and his models ... the warbirds are always fun to paint smile.gif

Its not a great pic, i will have to go see what sort of images i can find around with more detail on things.. but i think you could take the basic USN 3 tone scheme similar to what the Avengers were finished in and the roundels of the same style and be pretty on the money.
Milton´s Crew are awesome, i love the Dash 7, have their F7F tigercat too and it is pretty sweet

Poor old Japanese did'nt have a chance once the US steamroller got going with their new aircraft designs , the Tigercat alone but look at the Ventura/Harpoon replacement the Neptune .... even the Vertura with its uncanny way of it to shoot its way out off trouble with even a well known attack by nine Zeros .... but in the European theater lucky 487 had the Mosquito replace em after loosing an entire flight of the early Venturas .
