Caranado's Bonanza

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

They've figured out that FS9 is very much alive and well, and moreover, how to port an FSX aircraft to FS9!

Clearly they bring some hi-def polys with, and it looks gorgeous:

Life is good... I hope that other developers see the light.

Looks great..I have this in FSX with a modfied FDE from Bernt Stolle and a NZ repaint from a kind gentleman at Avsim. I wonder if either work on the FS9 model?

FDE seems fine on this one, I'm no Bonanza pilot but it behaved pretty well I thought.

Be nice to have a NZ paint - is it public? if so I'm sure something could be arranged...

I wonder how they got around the poly count issue? Looks good.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Chaps have been quietly working on this for a long time, see the Bull Stearman
Clever, though, to get it to work back from an FSX model.
Or perhaps not... it's all to do with how you compile the model, so perhaps they go back to pre-compile.

Reverse engineering , i guess not every type could a step back , the very more complex models .. A2A for example .

Don't know how they do Accusim and suchlike, my impression is that it works alongside the sim, rather than in it.

Fact is FS9 has better coding than FSX and is a more stable platform. (I'm not going to pursue this discussion though).
There are limitations in the original release which are being overcome, the high-poly issue being one of the biggies.
Who knows where those clever people out there take this venerable sim next?
Every time I think: OK it's run its course, someone pops up with something completely out of Left Field.

Indeed , more to the programs FS9/FSX , people never really had time to dwell into these areas because there was a new Microsoft Flightsim every couple of years , now that's stopped its the lets really look under the hood and if the big developers are staying for both sims there is a reason .

Being realistic , look are the screens you create and many believe its FSX , then you get some screens from FSX that make you thick it must be FS9 .. two words to many - 'portover and native' is as bad as saying or i consider the yuppy word 'vector line art' .. back in the old days its was 2D drawing or a 2Dsketch huh.gif

Works well...Accusim you say ...there is a freeware Accusim like pack for the V-35 which may work in FS9...I have yet to try it in FSX
